USS JACKSON OF THE UNITED STATES NAVY IN BRUNEI DARUSSALAM FOR LOGISTIC VISIT


MUARA, Sunday, 16 January 2022 – USS JACKSON of the United States Navy (USN) made a logistics port of call to Brunei Darussalam. Along with the visit, the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) and USN have successfully conducted the Passage Exercise (PASSEX), on 13th January 2022, between KDB DARUTTAQWA and USS JACKSON.


All planning and coordination meetings for the PASSEX was conducted virtually while its execution was conducted without physical interaction between the two ships in line with COVID-19 guidelines from the Prime Minister’s Office and Ministry of Health.


During the PASSEX, both ships conducted a series of communications and maneuvering exercises which concluded with a breakaway where both ships bid farewell and expressed appreciation on good friendship between both navies.


The PASSEX provides an opportunity for all crew and officers from both navies to practice and enhance their drills whilst performing the serials; as well as enhance interoperability between RBN and USN. Both captains expressed gratitude and fulfillment with the exercises and look forward to more opportunities to strengthen naval ties in the future. 


During the logistic visit, Captain Khairil bin Haji Abdul Rahman, RBN, Fleet Commander of the RBN received a virtual courtesy call by Commander Michael Root, Commanding Officer of USS JACKSON, where both sides affirmed their commitments towards enhancing interoperability and possibilities of capacity building opportunities in the future.


According to the United States Embassy in Brunei Darussalam, the ship visit represents the deep and enduring security partnership between the United States and Brunei Darussalam. Despite logistical complications due to COVID-19, Brunei Darussalam and the United States have continued their military exercises and engagements virtually to enhance Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) in the region during the Southeast Asia Cooperation and Training (SEACAT) in August 2021 and the 27th annual Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) in November 2021 which also reflects America’s security commitment to the region.


The RBN remains committed to strengthen its longstanding bilateral relations with USN, enhancing interoperability and capacity-building opportunities towards the goal of cooperation at sea. The RBN wishes USS JACKSON fair winds and following seas to their next port of call.

USS JACKSON DARI TENTERA LAUT AMERIKA SYARIKAT DI BRUNEI DARUSSALAM UNTUK PERSINGGAHAN LOGISTIK


MUARA,Ahad, 16 Januari 2022– USS JACKSON dari Tentera Laut Amerika Syarikat (TLAS) telah membuat persinggahan logistik ke Brunei Darussalam. Seiring dengan lawatan tersebut, Tentera Laut Diraja Brunei (TLDB) dan TLAS telah berjaya melaksanakan Passage Exercise (PASSEX) pada 13 Januari 2022 diantara KDB DARUTTAQWA dan USS JACKSON.


Semua mesyuarat perancangan dan penyelarasan bagi PASSEX telah dijalankan secara dalam talian manakala perlaksanaan PASSEX telah pun dikendalikan tanpa interaksi fizikal di antara kedua-dua kapal selaras dengan garus pandu COVID-19 daripada Jabatan Perdana Menteri dan Kementerian Kesihatan.


Semasa PASSEX, kedua-dua kapal telah menjalankan beberapa siri komunikasi dan latihan maneuver yang diakhiri dengan formasi perpisahan dan mengucapkan selamat tinggal serta merakamkan penghargaan atas persahabatan yang baik antara kedua-dua tentera laut.


PASSEX memberi peluang kepada semua anak kapal dan pegawai-pegawai dari kedua-dua tentera laut untuk berlatih dan meningkatkan keupayaan mereka semasa melakukan siri latihan; serta meningkatkan lagi interoperability antara TLDB dan TLAS. Kedua-dua kapten melahirkan rasa syukur dan berpuas hati dengan latihan tersebut dan mengharapkan lebih banyak peluang untuk mengeratkan lagi hubungan tentera laut pada masa hadapan. 


Dalam lawatan logistik tersebut, Kepten Khairil bin Haji Abdul Rahman, TLDB, Pemerintah Armada TLDB turut menerima kunjungan hormat secara dalam talian oleh Komander Michael Root, Pegawai Pemerintah USS JACKSON, di mana kedua-dua pihak menyatakan komitmen bagi mempertingkatkan interoperabiliti dan peluang membina kapasiti pada masa hadapan. 


Menurut Kedutaan Amerika Syarikat di Brunei Darussalam, lawatan kapal ini melambangkan perkongsian keselamatan yang mendalam dan berkekalan antara Amerika Syarikat dan Brunei Darussalam. Walaupun terdapat komplikasi logistik akibat COVID-19, Brunei Darussalam dan Amerika Syarikat telah meneruskan latihan dan penglibatan ketenteraan mereka secara dalam talian bagi meningkatkan Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) di rantau ini semasa Southeast Asia Cooperation and Training (SEACAT) pada Ogos 2021 dan Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT)  pada November 2021 yang turut melambangkan komitmen keselamatan Amerika terhadap rantau ini.


TLDB kekal komited dalam mengukuhkan hubungan dua hala di antara TLDB dan TLAS, meningkatkan tahap interoperabiliti dan peluang membina kapasiti ke arah matlamat kerjasama di laut. TLDB mendoakan perjalanan yang lancar bagi USS JACKSON ke pelabuhan seterusnya.
