19th BRUNEI DARUSSALAM-UNITED STATES OF AMERICA JOINT DEFENCE WORKING COMMITTEE MEETING


HONOLULU, Tuesday, 16 December 2025 – The Ministry of Defence of Brunei Darussalam and the United States of America successfully convened the 19th Joint Defence Working Committee (JDWC) Meeting at the United States Indo-Pacific Command (US INDOPACOM) Headquarters in Hawaii this afternoon.


The meeting was co-chaired by Yang Mulia Brigadier General (Retired) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Alirupendi bin Haji Perudin, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence of Brunei Darussalam, and Yang Mulia Brigadier General Sarah Russ, Mobilisation Assistant to the J5, Director of Strategic Planning and Policy, US INDOPACOM. 


Among the agenda items discussed during the meeting were the progress of bilateral defence cooperation, including joint military exercises and training between the two countries. The convening of the JDWC demonstrates both countries' strong commitment to their overall defence relations and their shared contribution to regional and international peace and stability.


As part of the 19th JDWC programme, Brunei Darussalam’s delegation also visited the Center for Excellence in Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance, the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA), and the Hawaii Army Museum.


The JDWC between Brunei Darussalam and the United States of America was established through the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Defence Cooperation between the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and the Government of the United States of America, signed on 29 November 1994 in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam. The MoU serves as a framework to promote defence cooperation and enhance strong bilateral defence ties between Brunei Darussalam and the United States of America.





MESYUARAT KE-19 JAWATANKUASA KERJA PERTAHANAN BERSAMA NEGARA BRUNEI DARUSSALAM-AMERIKA SYARIKAT


HONOLULU, Selasa, 16 Disember 2025 – Kementerian Pertahanan, Negara Brunei Darussalam dan Amerika Syarikat telah berjaya mengadakan Mesyuarat Jawatankuasa Kerja Pertahanan Bersama (JKPB) ke-19 bertempat di Ibu Pejabat United States Indo-Pacific Command (US INDOPACOM) di Hawaii, petang ini. 


Mesyuarat tersebut telah dipengerusikan bersama oleh Yang Mulia Brigedier Jeneral (Bersara) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Alirupendi bin Haji Perudin, Setiausaha Tetap Kementerian Pertahanan Negara Brunei Darussalam dan Yang Mulia Brigedier Jeneral Sarah Russ, Mobilisation Assistant to the J5, Director of Strategic Planning and Policy, US INDOPACOM.


Antara agenda yang dibincangkan semasa mesyuarat tersebut termasuk perkembangan kerjasama pertahanan dua hala yang merangkumi perlaksanaan eksesais dan latihan ketenteraan di antara kedua-dua negara. Penganjuran JKPB tersebut mencerminkan komitmen kukuh daripada kedua-dua belah pihak terhadap keseluruhan hubungan pertahanan dan sumbangan bersama kearah kepada keamanan dan kestabilan serantau dan antarabangsa.


Sebagai sebahagian daripada program JKPB ke-19 ini, delegasi Negara Brunei Darussalam turut mengadakan lawatan ke Center for Excellence in Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance, the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) dan Muzium Hawaii Army.


JKPB di antara Negara Brunei Darussalam dan Amerika Syarikat telah ditubuhkan melalui Memorandum Persefahaman (MoU) mengenai Kerjasama Pertahanan di antara Kerajaan Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan dan Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam dengan Kerajaan Amerika Syarikat, yang telah ditandatangani pada 29 November 1994 di Bandar Seri Begawan, Negara Brunei Darussalam. MoU tersebut berperanan sebagai rangka kerja dalam memupuk kerjasama pertahanan serta memperkukuhkan hubungan pertahanan dua hala antara Negara Brunei Darussalam dan Amerika Syarikat.​
