
HAWAII, Wednesday, 18 September 2024 – Yang Mulia Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), attended The Annual Indo-Pacific Chiefs of Defence (CHOD) Conference 2024, which is being held from 18 to 20 September in Kona, Hawaii.
In continuation of the previous year’s CHOD meeting held in Fiji, this year’s conference was hosted by the United States Indo-Pacific Command at the Outrigger Kona Resort and Spa which convened 28 participants including seventeen Chiefs of Defence, ten representatives from armed forces across the Indo-Pacific region and the Chairman of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) Military Committee. Furthermore, special programs were organised for the spouses of the Chiefs of Defence, as well as for their respective Senior Enlisted Leaders.
With the theme “The Future Indo-Pacific: Building a Resilient and Interconnected Region,” the conference addressed critical efforts to safeguard the international system, enhance regional capacity building through partnerships and improve information sharing. Discussions also focused on the significance of identifying emerging technological threats and opportunities, as well as the future trajectory of the Indo-Pacific region. Spouses also engaged in dialogues regarding the vital role of women in the context of peace and security. The conference invited several esteemed guest speakers to present their insights related to the conference’s theme.
During the conference, the RBAF Commander also held courtesy calls with his counterparts, reflecting the robust bilateral defense ties between Brunei Darussalam and the respective nations. They explored future initiatives aimed at further strengthening professional cooperation and expanding opportunities for both bilateral and multilateral engagements in the Indo-Pacific region.
The annual CHOD conference serves as a pivotal forum for Chiefs of Defense in the Indo-Pacific region to gather and discuss issues of shared importance, while strengthening friendships and enhancing cooperation and interoperability for the peace and stability of the region.


PEMERINTAH ANGKATAN BERSENJATA DIRAJA BRUNEI TELAH MENGHADIRI PERSIDANGAN TAHUNAN KETUA-KETUA PERTAHANAN INDO-PASIFIK (CHOD) 2024 DI HAWAII
HAWAII, Rabu, 18 September 2024 – Yang Mulia Mejar Jeneral Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Pemerintah Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (ABDB) telah menghadiri Persidangan Tahunan Ketua-ketua Pertahanan Indo-Pasifik (CHOD) 2024 yang berlangsung dari 18 hingga 20 September 2024 di Kona, Hawaii.
Sebagai kesinambungan daripada mesyuarat CHOD yang pernah diadakan di Fiji pada tahun lepas, persidangan tahun ini telah dianjurkan oleh United States Indo-Pacific Command di Outrigger Kona Resort and Spa yang menghimpunkan 28 peserta terdiri daripada tujuh belas Ketua Pertahanan, sepuluh perwakilan daripada angkatan bersenjata di seluruh rantau Indo-Pasifik dan Pengerusi Jawatankuasa Ketenteraan Pertubuhan Perjanjian Atlantik Utara (NATO). Selain itu, program khas juga telah diatur bagi isteri-isteri Ketua Pertahanan serta
Senior Enlisted Leaders masing-masing.
Dengan tema
“The Future Indo-Pacific: Building a Resilient and Interconnected Region”, persidangan ini membincangkan usaha-usaha kritikal untuk melindungi sistem antarabangsa, meningkatkan kapasiti pembangunan serantau melalui perkongsian dan memperbaiki pengagihan maklumat. Perbincangan juga memberi tumpuan kepada kepentingan mengenal pasti ancaman dan peluang teknologi baru, serta trajektori masa depan rantau Indo-Pasifik. Isteri-isteri Ketua Pertahanan juga terlibat dalam dialog mengenai peranan penting wanita dalam konteks keamanan dan sekuriti. Persidangan ini telah menjemput beberapa penceramah undangan untuk berkongsi pandangan mereka berkaitan dengan tema persidangan.
Semasa persidangan, Pemerintah ABDB juga telah mengadakan kunjungan muhibah bersama rakan-rakan Ketua Pertahanan, yang mencerminkan hubungan pertahanan dua hala yang kukuh antara Brunei Darussalam dan negara-negara berkenaan. Mereka turut membincangkan inisiatif-inisiatif masa depan untuk memperkukuhkan kerjasama profesional dan mengembangkan peluang berinteraksi dua hala dan pelbagai hala di rantau Indo-Pasifik.
Persidangan CHOD yang dilaksanakan setiap tahun ini berfungsi sebagai forum penting bagi Ketua-Ketua Pertahanan di rantau Indo-Pasifik untuk berkumpul dan membincangkan mengenai isu-isu kepentingan bersama, sambil mengeratkan persahabatan dan meningkatkan kerjasama dan kebolehoperasian bagi keamanan dan kestabilan rantau ini.
