The final phase of the 13th Brunei-Singapore Defence Scholars Development Programme (SDP) in Singapore has successfully concluded with a total of 12 scholars having completed the programme and received their certificates in a closing ceremony at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters, Republic of Singapore.
Present as guests of honours were Mr. Chan Heng Kee, Permanent Secretary (Defence), Ministry of Defence, Republic of Singapore, and Madam Poh Kui Choon, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Brunei Darussalam.
In the closing remarks, the Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Brunei Darussalam highlighted the important long-standing and special bilateral relationship between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Singapore. The scholars were also advised to continue to learn and maintain the friendships that have been built as these connections will enrich their personal and professional lives in the future.
The Brunei-Singapore Defence Scholars Development programme has been held annually since 2007 and has been changed to biennially since 2022. For this year, the theme of the programme is “Building Foundations for Future Leaders”, which was focused on the critical importance of laying a strong foundation in leadership and personal development.

Brunei-Singapore Defence Scholars Development Programme (SDP) di Singapura telah sempurna dilaksanakan dengan penglibatan 12 penerima biasiswa yang telah berjaya mengikuti program berkenaan dan menerima sijil penyertaan di dalam Majlis Penutup yang telah diadakan di Ibu Pejabat Kementerian Pertahanan, Republik Singapura.
Hadir selaku tetamu-tetamu kehormat adalah Chan Heng Kee, Setiausaha Tetap (Pertahanan), Kementerian Pertahanan, Republik Singapura dan Poh Kui Choon, Timbalan Setiausaha Tetap, Kementerian Pertahanan, Negara Brunei Darussalam.
Semasa menyampaikan ucapan penutup, Timbalan Setiausaha Tetap, Kementerian Pertahanan, Negara Brunei Darussalam menekankan kepentingan hubungan istimewa dua hala yang telah lama terjalin antara Negara Brunei Darussalam dan Republik Singapura. Para penerima biasiswa juga dinasihatkan untuk mengekalkan persahabatan yang terjalin agar menjadi berguna di masa akan datang secara peribadi dan profesional.
Brunei-Singapore Defence Scholars Development Programme (SDP) lazimnya diadakan pada setiap tahun sejak tahun 2007 dan diubah menjadi setiap dua tahun sejak tahun 2022. Untuk tahun ini, tema program tersebut ialah “Membina Asas untuk Pemimpin Masa Depan”. Tema pada kali ini memfokuskan kepentingan kritikal dalam membina asas yang kukuh dalam kepimpinan dan pembangunan peribadi.
