CANBERRA, Australia, Wednesday, 28 February 2024 – The 18th ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus Experts’ Working Group on Military Medicine (ADMM-Plus EWG on MM) meeting and Handing Over Ceremony of the ADMM-Plus EWG on MM Co-Chairmanship took place on Wednesday, 28 February 2024 in Canberra, Australia.
The 18th ADMM-Plus EWG on MM hybrid meeting was co-chaired by Brigadier Isaac Seidl, Australian Co-Chair and Colonel Dr Haji Awang Mohd Hafizul bin Haji Awang Mohd Hassan, Brunei Darussalam Co-Chair of the fourth ADMM-Plus EWG on MM cycle. The incoming co-chairs Air Marshall Budi Satriyo, Director of Health, for the Directorate General of Defence Forces in Indonesia’s Ministry of Defence and Major General Paula Lodi, Commanding General of 18th MEDCOM, United States of America and their teams attended in person. Representatives from other ADMM-Plus countries ASEAN Centre for Military Medicine (ACMM) and ASEAN Secretariat attended the meeting virtually.
The meeting recapped all the activities conducted throughout the fourth EWG on MM cycle from 2021-2024. Representatives from Brunei Darussalam and Australia shared the highlights, challenges and lessons learnt throughout the cycle. This includes the cycle’s capstone activity which was the Project-based Community Medical Deployment/ Medical Aid Provision (PCMD/MAP). PCMD/MAP was a deployment of the ADMM-Plus countries to General Tinio, Nueva Ecija, Republic of the Philippines to provide real-life tangible outcomes in enhancing the existing health provision for the community and making the community more self-reliant. Invited speakers from the ACMM and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) also shared their perspectives including lessons learnt during the medical deployment.
With the successful completion of the fourth cycle of the ADMM-Plus EWG on MM, both Australia and Brunei Darussalam officially handed over the co-chairmanship of the ADMM-Plus EWG on MM to the Republic of Indonesia and the United States of America who will be the new co-chair of the fifth cycle. The new co-chairs have shared their intention to carry forward the PCMD/MAP initiative into their work-plan.

CANBERRA, Australia – Mesyuarat Kumpulan Kerja Pakar Perubatan Tentera ADMM-Plus (ADMM-Plus EWG on MM) dan Majlis Serah Alih Tugas Pengerusi Bersama ADMM-Plus EWG on MM berlangsung pada hari Rabu, 28 Februari 2024 di Canberra, Australia.
Mesyuarat tersebut berlangsung di bawah Pengerusi Bersama Negara Brunei Darussalam dan Australia bagi kitaran EWG on MM kali ke-4. Mewakili Negara Brunei Darussalam di mesyuarat tersebut ialah Kolonel (Dr) Haji Awang Mohd Hafizul bin Haji Awang Mohd Hassan selaku Pengerusi Bersama ADMM-Plus EWG on MM Negara Brunei Darussalam dan Brigedier Isaac Seidl, selaku Pengerusi Bersama ADMM-Plus EWG on MM Australia.
Pengerusi bersama bagi kitaran ke-lima Air Marshal Budi Satriyo, Pengarah Kesihatan, Direktorat Jeneral Angkatan Pertahanan di Kementerian Pertahanan Indonesia dan Mejar Jeneral Paula Lodi, Komandan Jeneral MEDCOM ke-18, Amerika Syarikat dan pasukan mereka juga turut hadir di Canberra. Wakil dari negara ADMM-Plus lain serta Pusat Perubatan Ketenteraan ASEAN (ACMM) dan Sekretariat ASEAN menghadiri mesyuarat itu secara maya.
Mesyuarat terakhir bagi kitaran ke-empat ini menyimpulkan kesemua aktiviti-aktiviti yang telah berlangsung disepanjang kitaran ADMM-Plus EWG on MM kali ke-4 dari tahun 2021-2024. Wakil dari Negara Brunei Darussalam dan Australia mengongsikan sorotan, cabaran dan pengajaran yang dipelajari dalam lingkungan 4 tahun mempengerusi bersama. Ini merangkumi perbincangan mengenai aktiviti kemuncak bagi kitaran ke-empat iaitu inisiatif
Project-based Community Medical Deployment/ Medical Aid Provision (PCMD/MAP). PCMD/MAP ialah aturgerak negara-negara ADMM-Plus ke General Tinio, Nueva Ecija, Republik Filipina untuk menyediakan hasil nyata kehidupan sebenar dalam mempertingkatkan peruntukan kesihatan yang sedia ada untuk masyarakat dan menjadikan masyarakat lebih mandiri. Penceramah jemputan dari ACMM dan Angkatan Bersenjata Filipina (AFP) juga turut berkongsi perspektif mereka termasuk pengajaran yang dipelajari semasa aktiviti kemuncak iaitu PCMD/MAP.
Dengan tamatnya tugas umpulan Kerja Pakar Perubatan Tentera ADMM-Plus (ADMM-Plus EWG on MM) bagi pusingan ke-empat (2021-2024) yang dipengerusikan bersama oleh Australia dan Negara Brunei Darussalam, tugas tersebut telah diserah alih kepada pengerusi bersama baru bagi pusingan kelima (2024-2026) iaitu Indonesia dan Amerika Syarikat. Indonesia dan Amerika Syarikat secara rasmi.
Pengerusi bersama yang baru telah mengongsikan hasrat mereka untuk meneruskan inisiatif PCMD/MAP ke dalam pelan kerja mereka.
