TANAH JAMBU, Thursday, 11 January 2024 – The opening ceremony of the Command and Staff Course (CSC) 14/2024 took place today at the Auditorium of the Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DA RBAF). Present to officiate the opening ceremony as the Guest of Honour was Yang Mulia Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF).
Also present at the ceremony were
Dr Hazri bin Haji Kifle, Vice Chancellor of University Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Deputy Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF), Acting Deputy Director of Internal Security Department, RBAF Service Commanders, Ambassadors/ High Commissioners to Brunei Darussalam, Senior Officers as well as the Defence Advisers/Attachés to Brunei Darussalam.
The ceremony began with the recitation of
Surah Al-Fatihah and
Surah
Al-Kahfi (Verse 66 – 75) led by a representative of the course participants, Lieutenant Commander Mohd Shahrul Idham bin Haji Bungsu, RBN,
followed by the opening remarks from the Guest of Honour and continued with flag unfurling ceremony. The flag unfurling symbolises excellent cooperation between countries taking part in the course and emphasises the importance for Command and Staff College students to forge strong friendships throughout their learning journey.
A total
of 37 officers are attending the course this year including 16 RBAF officers, one officer from the Ministry of Defence, one officer from the Royal Brunei Police Force, one officer from the Internal Security Department and other 18 international military officers from 14 countries; the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Kingdom of Cambodia, Republic of Indonesia, the Kingdom of Jordan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Sultanate of Oman, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Republic of the Philippines, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Republic of Singapore, the Kingdom of Thailand, United Kingdom and United State of America.
The RBAF Command and Staff Course 14/2024 is a 40-week course delivered in partnership with UBD for the sixth year as its primary academic provider. It aims to expand professional and academic knowledge towards a contemporary strategic environment and its implications on the nature of their work as defence and security specialists.
By the end of the course, successful course participants will be awarded
the post-nominal “passed staff college (joint)” [‘psc (j)’] by the DA RBAF and the UBD Graduate Diploma of Defence and Security Studies with an opportunity to pursue their Master’s degree in Defence and Security Studies.
MAJLIS PEMBUKAAN BAGI KURSUS MAKTAB TURUS KE-14
TANAH JAMBU, Khamis, 11 Januari 2024 – Majlis pembukaan bagi Kursus Maktab Turus Sesi ke-14 telah diadakan pada hari ini di Auditorium Akademi Pertahanan ABDB. Hadir selaku Tetamu Kehormat bagi merasmikan majlis tersebut ialah Yang Mulia Mejar Jeneral Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Pemerintah Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (ABDB).
Turut hadir pada majlis tersebut ialah Dr Hazri bin Haji Kifle, Naib Canselor Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Timbalan Pesuruhjaya Polis, Pemangku Timbalan Pengarah Jabatan Keselamatan Dalam Negeri, Pemerintah-pemerintah Angkatan Tentera, Duta Negara/ Pesuruhjaya Tinggi Negara ke Negara Brunei Darussalam, Pegawai-pegawai Kanan serta Penasihat/ Atase Pertahanan ke Negara Brunei Darussalam.
Majlis dimulakan dengan bacaan Surah Al-Fatihah dan Surah Al-Kahfi (Ayat 66 – 75) diketuai oleh wakil peserta kursus, Leftenan Komander Mohd Shahrul Idham bin Haji Bungsu, TLDB, diikuti dengan ucapan perasmian oleh Tetamu Kehormat dan diteruskan dengan upacara mengibarkan bendera. Bendera yang dikibarkan melambangkan kerjasama yang sangat baik antara negara-negara yang mengambil bahagian dalam kursus dan menekankan kepentingan bagi pelajar-pelajar Kolej Staf untuk menjalin persahabatan yang kukuh sepanjang perjalanan pembelajaran mereka.
Seramai 37 pegawai menghadiri kursus tahun ini termasuk 16 pegawai dari ABDB, seorang pegawai daripada Kementerian Pertahanan, seorang pegawai daripada Pasukan Polis Diraja Brunei, seorang pegawai daripada Jabatan Keselamatan Dalam Negeri dan 18 lagi pegawai tentera antarabangsa dari 14 negara; Republik Rakyat Bangladesh, Kerajaan Kemboja, Republik Indonesia, Kerajaan Jordan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Kesultanan Oman, Republik Islam Pakistan, Republik Filipina, Kerajaan Arab Saudi, Republik Singapura, Kerajaan Thailand, United Kingdom dan Amerika Syarikat.
Kursus Maktab Turus Sesi 14/2024 ini merupakan kursus selama 40 minggu yang dikendalikan dengan kerjasama UBD bagi tahun keenam sebagai Pembekal Akademik Utama. Ia bertujuan untuk memperluaskan pengetahuan profesional dan akademik ke arah persekitaran strategik kontemporari dan kesannya terhadap tugasan mereka sebagai pakar di bidang pertahanan dan keselamatan.
Di penghujung kursus ini, peserta-peserta kursus yang berjaya akan dianugerahkan “passed staff college (joint)” [‘psc (j)’] daripada pihak Akademi Pertahanan ABDB dan
Graduate Diploma in Defence and Security Studies daripada pihak UBD dengan peluang untuk melanjutkan pelajaran ke peringkat Master of Defence and Security Studies.
