KAMPONG TANAH JAMBU, Wednesday, 11 October 2023 – A total of 35 local and international military officers
received certificates for completing the 13th Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Command and Staff Course (CSC)
during the closing ceremony at the Defence Academy RBAF (DA RBAF) this afternoon. 


The 13th RBAF CSC officers consisted of RBAF and Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) as well as 16 international participants from Australia, the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, the Republic of India, the Republic of Indonesia, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Sultanate of Oman, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Republic of the Philippines, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Republic of Singapore, the Kingdom of Thailand and United States of America. 


Present as the Guest of Honour was Yang Berhormat
Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II. Also present were the Commander of the RBAF,
Deputy Commissioner of Police,  Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Assistant Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Acting RBAF Services Commanders,
Acting Joint Force Commander, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of
Defence, High Commissioners and Ambassadors, representatives from Foreign Missions in Brunei Darussalam, Resident and Non-Resident Defence Advisers and Defence Attachés to Brunei Darussalam, Directors, Commandants, UBD faculty members, as well as senior officers from the Ministry of Defence and RBAF. 


The event commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and
Surah Al-Mujadalah verses 10-13 led by a course representative, Major Mohamad Hishamuddin bin Haji Marzoki. This was followed by a welcoming remark from
Colonel Pengiran Sharifuddin bin Pengiran Haji Yusof, Commandant of the Defence Academy RBAF, and was followed by a speech from the Guest of Honour. 


In his speech, Yang Berhormat Minister at the Prime Minister’s Officer and Minister of Defence II highlighted that in understanding the dynamic nature of persistent security challenges affecting the region’s development agendas, peace, prosperity and stability, a strategic, holistic and cross-pillar response is required to mitigate the impact. Yang Berhormat also stressed the important role of defence policy towards building effective military capabilities to fulfill operational requirements, concurrently supporting the Whole of Government and Whole of Nation Approach as outlined in the 2021 Defence White Paper.


Yang Berhormat Minister of the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II also underscored the importance of CSC in equipping graduates with military knowledge, operational skills, and security insights to improve their skill sets as they assume higher appointments. CSC further serves as an avenue for knowledge sharing, professional development, and enhancement of defence diplomacy with the participation of 16 foreign military officers from 14 countries.


This year’s CSC witnessed four recognition awards to the course participants. The Overall Excellence Award went to
Major Andrew Keith from the United States of America Air Force, which was presented by the Guest of Honour. This was followed by the presentation of the  RBAF Commendation’s Award by Yang Mulia RBAF Commander and the Academic Excellence Award by Yang Mulia Assistant Vice Chancellor to Major Ernest Chin Jun Hao from the Republic of Singapore Air Force.
Meanwhile, the Commandant’s Award was given to Lieutenant Commander Mohd Hydzir Zuhdi bin Haji Sulaiman, RBN from the Commandant of Defence Academy RBAF. 


Course participants who have successfully met the criteria of the programme were awarded the post-nominal “passed staff college (joint)” [‘psc (j)’] by the DA RBAF and the Graduate Diploma in Defence and Security Studies by UBD with an opportunity to pursue the Master of Defence and Security Studies at UBD.


The 40-weeks course, delivered in partnership with UBD, aims to broaden officers’ perspectives and professional expertise using practical and academic approaches and disciplines to explore the current strategic environment issues and their implications for those working in the defence and security fields.











35 PEGAWAI TAMAT KURSUS MAKTAB TURUS ABDB KE-13


BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Khamis, 12 Oktober 2023 – Seramai 35 pegawai tentera tempatan dan antarabangsa menerima sijil menamatkan Kursus Maktab Turus Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (ABDB) sesi ke-13pada majlis penutup di Akademi Pertahanan ABDB (DA ABDB) petang ini. 


Peserta CSC ABDB kali ke-13 ini terdiri daripada pegawai ABDB dan Pasukan Polis Diraja Brunei (PPDB) serta 16 peserta antarabangsa dari Australia, Republik Rakyat Bangladesh, Republik India, Republik Indonesia,

Kerajaan Hasyimiah
Jordan
, Republik Korea, Malaysia, Kesultanan Oman, Republik Islam Pakistan, Republik Filipina, Arab Saudi, Republik Singapura, Kerajaan Thailand dan Amerika Syarikat.


Hadir selaku Tetamu Kehormat ialah Yang Berhormat
Pehin Datu Lailaraja Mejar Jeneral (B) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awg Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri dan Menteri Pertahanan II. Turut hadir ialah Pemerintah ABDB,
Timbalan Persurujaya Tinggi Pasukan Polis Diraja Brunei,  Setiausaha Tetap Kementerian Pertahanan, Penolong
Naib-Chancellor Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Pemangku Pemerintah-pemerintah Angkatan Tentera, Pemangku Pemerintah Angkatan Bersama, Timbalan Setiausaha Tetap Kementerian Pertahanan, Pesuruhjaya-Pesuruhjaya Tinggi dan Duta-duta Besar Luar Negeri, Perwakilan dari Kedutaan Luar Negeri di Negara Brunei Darussalam,
Penasihat-penasihat dan Atase-atase Pertahanan yang menetap dan tidak menetap di Negara Brunei Darussalam, Pengarah-pengarah, Komandan-komandan, Ahli-ahli Fakulti daripada UBD dan Pegawai-pegawai Kanan Kementerian Pertahanan dan ABDB.

Dalam ucapan Yang Berhormat Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri dan Menteri Pertahanan II menegaskan bahawa dalam memahami sifat dinamik cabaran keselamatan berterusan yang menjejaskan agenda pembangunan, keamanan, kemakmuran dan kestabilan rantau, tindak balas yang strategik, holistik dan rentas-tonggak (cross-pillar) adalah diperlukan untuk mengurangkan kesan cabaran. Yang Berhormat Pehin juga menekankan peranan penting dasar pertahanan ke arah membangun keupayaan ketenteraan yang berkesan untuk memenuhi keperluan operasi, pada masa yang sama menyokong/mendokong pendekatan
Whole of Government dan
Whole of Nation seperti yang digariskan dalam Kertas Putih Pertahanan 2021.


Yang Berhormat Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri dan Menteri Pertahanan II juga meletakkan kepentingan CSC dalam melengkapi graduan dengan ilmu pengetahuan ketenteraan, kemahiran operasi, dan cerapan keselamatan bagi meningkatkan kemahiran mereka setelah memikul jawatan yang lebih tinggi. CSC seterusnya berfungsi sebagai saluran untuk perkongsian ilmu pengetahuan, perkembangan profesional, dan peningkatan diplomasi pertahanan dengan adanya penyertaan 16 pegawai tentera asing dari 14 negara.


Seperti tahun-tahun sebelumnya, empat anugerah pengiktirafan telah diberikan kepada peserta-peserta Kursus Maktab Turus. Pada tahun ini, Anugerah
CSC Overall Excellence telah diberikan kepada Mejar Andrew Keith daripada Tentera Udara Amerika Syarikat oleh Tetamu Kehormat. Anugerah
RBAF Commendation diberikan oleh Yang Mulia Pemerintah ABDB dan Anugerah
Academic Excellence diberikan oleh Penolong Naib Chancellor kepada Mejar Ernest Chin Jin Hao daripada Tentera Udara Republik Singapura. Manakala, Anugerah Komandan telah diberikan kepada Leftenan Komander Mohd Hydzir Zuhdi bin Haji Sulaiman, TLDB dari Yang Mulia Komandan Akademi Pertahanan ABDB. 


Sementara itu, peserta-peserta kursus yang lulus akan diberikan

post-nominal “passed staff college (joint)” [‘psc (j)’] dari Akademi Pertahanan ABDB dan
kelulusan
Graduate Diploma in
Defence and Security Studies dari UBD, dan berpeluang untuk melanjutkan pelajaran
ke peringkat Ijazah Sarjana dalam bidang
Defence and Security Studies di UBD.


Kursus yang dijalankan selama 40 minggu ini dikendalikan dengan kerjasama UBD dengan tujuan untuk memperluaskan pengetahuan profesional secara praktikal dan akademik serta disiplin bagi mengkaji persekitaran strategik semasa dan kesannya terhadap tugasan mereka
yang bertugas dalam bidang pertahanan dan keselamatan.
