​JERUDONG BEACH, Wednesday, 13 November 2024 - In conjunction with Earth Day 2024, the Ministry of Defence this morning conducted the ‘Nationwide Coastline Cleanliness Campaign for Marine Debris, dubbed ‘COASTAL MARVEL’ covering eleven (11) beaches spanning three districts. The campaign aims to support the initiatives of the Steering Committee on Cleanliness Issues
(JIIK) to ensure that Brunei Darussalam remains clean and free from litter pollution. The launch of this campaign was officiated at Jerudong Beach by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II, before he proceeded to oversee the conduct of similar campaigns at other beaches.

 

Meanwhile, representing the launch of the beach cleanliness campaign in the Belait District was the Commander of the Royal Brunei Land Force, which was conducted at Kuala Belait Beach. Whilst the campaign in the Tutong District was led by the Acting Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy at Seri Kenangan Beach. Participating the campaign at Jerudong Beach were Acting Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence, Permanent Secretary (Planning, Land Use, and Environment) at the Ministry of Development, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence, Acting Joint Force Commander RBAF, Member of the Legislative Council, Acting Brunei-Muara District Officer, Head of Mukim Sengkurong, Head of Jerudong Village, Senior Officers and personnel of the Ministry of Defence.

 

The event began with a group photo, recitation of
Surah Al-Fatihah and a brief Tazkirah titled “Meraih Pahala dengan Kebersihan“. Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and the Minister of Defence II was welcomed to view the campaign simultaneously through live streaming via ‘live feed’ at ten other beaches. Then, a safety briefing delivered and a light exercise before the commencement of the campaign.

 

During the campaign, the Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and the Minister of Defence II handed over recycle bins to the Acting Brunei-Muara District Officer, Yang Mulia Mohammad Sofian bin Hj Basri, symbolising the importance of maintaining cleanliness to preserve environmental sustainability and reduce pollution in marine ecosystems.

 

The Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and the Minister of Defence II had the opportunity to visit Meragang and Muara Beach. Upon returning back to  Jerudong Beach, he witnessed the  live report through the ‘live feed’ of waste collected  from respective beaches.

 

The campaign, which reflects the Ministry of Defence’s commitment through the Whole-of-Nation approach to raising public awareness on environmental cleanliness, involved nearly two thousand people and successfully collected
5,946 kilograms of waste.

 

Relevant stakeholders also participated in the campaign including Member of the Legislative Council, Acting District Officers, Mukim Penghulus, Village Heads, Members of the Village Consultative Council from Tutong and Belait Districts. Students from Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) and Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Secondary School, Muara Maritime Services (MMS) and local residents.

KEMENTERIAN PERTAHANAN MENGADAKAN KEMPEN KEBERSIHAN SENEGARA PERSISIRAN PANTAI BAGI SERPIHAN LAUT ‘COASTAL MARVEL’ DI SEBELAS BUAH PANTAI


PANTAI JERUDONG, Rabu, 13 November 2024 – Bersempena dengan Sambutan Hari Bumi 2024, Kementerian Pertahanan hari ini telah mengadakan ‘Kempen Kebersihan Senegara Persisiran Pantai’ yang digelar sebagai ‘COASTAL MARVEL’ merangkumi sebelas (11) buah pantai di tiga daerah. Kempen ini juga bertujuan untuk mendokong inisiatif Jawatankuasa Induk Isu-Isu Kebersihan (JIIK) dalam memastikan Negara Brunei Darussalam kekal bersih dan bebas daripada pencemaran sampah. Pelancaran kempen ini telah disempurnakan di Pantai Jerudong oleh Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Mejar Jeneral (Bersara) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri dan Menteri Pertahanan II, sebelum beliau meninjau perlaksanaan kempen serupa di pantai-pantai lain.


Sementara itu, bagi mewakili pelancaran kempen kebersihan pantai-pantai di Daerah Belait ialah Pemerintah Tentera Darat Diraja Brunei yang mana telah diungkayahkan di Pantai Kuala Belait. Manakala, kempen kebersihan pantai-pantai di Daerah Tutong telah dilaksanakan oleh Pemangku Pemerintah Tentera Laut Diraja Brunei di Pantai Seri Kenangan. Menyertai kempen ini di Pantai Jerudong ialah Pemangku Pemerintah Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei, Setiausaha Tetap Kementerian Pertahanan, Setiausaha Tetap (Perancangan, Guna Tanah dan Alam Sekitar) Kementerian Pembangunan, Timbalan Setiausaha Tetap Kementerian Pertahanan, Pemangku Pemerintah Markas Angkatan Bersama ABDB, Ahli Majlis Mesyuarat Negara, Pemangku Pegawai Daerah Brunei-Muara, Penghulu Mukim Sengkurong, Ketua Kampung Jerudong, Pegawai-pegawai Kanan serta kakitangan Kementerian Pertahanan.


Acara dimulakan dengan bergambar ramai, bacaan Surah Al-Fatihah dan Tazkirah ringkas bertajuk “Meraih Pahala Dengan Kebersihan”. Beliau dialu-alukan untuk menyaksikan secara langsung melalui ‘live feed’ kempen kebersihan yang berlangsung secara serentak di sepuluh buah pantai yang lain. Sejurus selepas itu,  taklimat keselamatan disampaikan dan sesi senaman ringan sebelum kempen kebersihan dimulakan.  


Semasa kempen tersebut, Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri dan Menteri Pertahanan II berkesudian untuk  menyerahkan tong kitar semula kepada Pemangku Pegawai Daerah Brunei-Muara, Yang Mulia Mohammad Sofian bin Hj Basri sebagai simbol kepentingan kebersihan dalam memelihara kelestarian alam sekitar dan mengurangkan pencemaran ekosistem marin.


Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri dan Menteri Pertahanan II seterusnya berkesempatan meninjau ke Pantai Meragang dan Pantai Muara. Sekembalinya semula ke Pantai Jerudong, Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri dan Menteri Pertahanan II menyaksikan laporan secara langsung melalui ‘live feed’ jumlah kutipan sampah sarap dari setiap pantai. Kempen yang mencerminkan komitmen Kementerian Pertahanan melalui pendekatan Whole-of-Nation dalam bersama mewujudkan kesedaran awam tentang kebersihan persekitaran ini telah melibatkan hampir dua ribu orang dan berhasil mengutip sebanyak 5,946 kilogram sampah sarap.


Pihak-pihak yang berkepentingan turut menyertai kempen ini termasuk  Pemangku-Pemangku Pegawai Daerah, Penghulu-Penghulu Mukim, Ketua-Ketua Kampong, Majlis-Majlis Perundingan Kampong dari Daerah Tutong dan Beliat, Penuntut-penuntut Institut Pendidikan Teknikal Brunei (IBTE) dan Sekolah Menengah Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Muara Maritime Services (MMS) dan juga penduduk setempat.​
