CAMBODIA, Thursday, 27 June 2019 – The 9th ASEAN Chiefs of Military Medicine Conference (ACMMC) was held recently at the Himawari Hotel in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from 24 until 27 June 2019. The delegates from Brunei Darussalam were led by Colonel (Dr) Haji Mohd Hafizul bin Haji Awg Mohd Hassan. 

The guest of honour for the opening ceremony was General Moeung Samphan, the Secretary of State of Ministry of National Defence. Over the course of the 4 days, the conference consisted of a working visit to the Preah Ket Mealea Military Hospital and the Win-Win Memorial, the Head of Delegates’ meeting, the Senior Officers’ Meeting, and also individual presentations by Young ASEAN Military Medical Officers (YAMMOs) relating to this year’s theme, “Impacts and Effectiveness of Disaster Response in Military Medicine”. On the last day of the conference, the delegates were also given the opportunity to visit the Royal Palace, The National Museum, and the Tuel Sleng Genocide Museum.

The ACMMC is held annually with each of the 10 ASEAN countries taking turns to be the host country. The conference serves as a platform for military medical officers to exchange knowledge and experiences in the field of Military Medicine either in crisis or in normal situations, and to help in strengthening the ties and cooperation between country members.

The conference concluded with the handover of the host country of the next ACMMC in 2020 to Thailand. Brunei Darussalam will be hosting the 11th ACMMC in 2021.

MESYUARAT PERSIDANGAN KETUA-KETUA PERUBATAN TENTERA ASEAN 2019 KALI KE-9 DI CAMBODIA

KEMBOJA, Khamis, 27 Jun 2019 – Persidangan Ketua-Ketua Perubatan Tentera ASEAN (ACMM) yang ke-9 telah berlangsung pada 24 Jun hingga 27 Jun 2019 di Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Delegasi dari Brunei Darussalam adalah diketuai oleh Kolonel (Dr) Haji Mohd Hafizul bin Haji Awang Mohd Hassan. 

Majlis pembukaan rasmi persidangan tersebut dihadiri oleh Jeneral Moeung Samphan, Secretary of State of Ministry of National Defence sebagai tetamu kehormat. Sepanjang tempoh 4 hari, ianya merangkumi lawatan kerja ke Hospital Tentera Preah Ket Mealea dan Memorial Win-Win, mesyuarat Ketua-Ketua Delegasi, mesyuarat Pegawai-Pegawai Kanan, dan pembentangan perseorangan Pegawai-Pegawai Perubatan Muda ASEAN (YAMMO) yang berkaitan dengan tema tahun ini “Kesan dan Keberkesanan Respon Bencana di dalam Perubatan Tentera”. Pada hari terakhir persidangan, delegasi berpeluang untuk melawat Istana Diraja, Muzium Negara, dan Muzium Pembunuhan Beramai Tuel Sleng.

Persidangan ACMM diadakan setiap tahun di mana setiap satu dari 10 negara ASEAN akan mengambil giliran untuk menjadi negara tuan rumah. Persidangan ACMM menjadi platform untuk pegawai-pegawai perubatan tentera bertukar pengetahuan dan pengalaman mengenai perubatan tentera di masa krisis dan aman. Ianya juga membantu menguatkan hubungan yang erat serta kerjasama di antara negara-negara anggota. 

Persidangan berakhir dengan penyerahan negara tuan rumah persidangan ACMM pada tahun 2020 kepada Thailand. Brunei Darussalam dijangka akan menjadi negara tuan rumah bagi persidangan ACMM yang ke-11 pada tahun 2021.
