BOLKIAH GARRISON, Thursday, 24 September 2020 – The 17th ASEAN Chiefs of Defence Forces Meeting (ACDFM), chaired by Senior Lieutenant General Phan Giang, Chief of General Staff, Vietnam People’s Army was held today via video teleconferencing with the theme ‘Military Cooperation for A Cohesive and Responsive ASEAN”.
Representing the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) was Major General (Udara) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sahat, Commander of RBAF. Also present during the virtual meeting were the Joint Force Commander RBAF as the Head of the ASEAN Military Operations Meeting (AMOM) and the Director of Intelligence as the Head of the ASEAN Military Intelligence Meeting (AMIM).
In line with the theme, two separate documents were adopted. Firstly, the ASEAN Militaries Two-Year Activity Work Plan (2020-2022) and secondly, ACDFM-17 Joint Statement. These documents reflect ASEAN Militaries’ commitment, continued support and participation in implementing ACDFM initiatives, as well as enhancing the roles of ASEAN militaries through practical and concrete activities.
The conference concluded with a handover ceremony of the ACDFM Chairmanship to the Royal Brunei Armed Forces as Brunei Darussalam will take the helm of ASEAN Chairmanship in 2021. During the ceremony, Commander RBAF gave his takeover remarks for ACDFM 2021, followed by a video presentation of Brunei Darussalam.

MESYUARAT ASEAN CHIEFS OF DEFENCE FORCES KE-17
BOLKIAH GARISON, Khamis, 24 September 2020 – Mesyuarat ASEAN Chiefs of Defence Forces ke-17 yang dipengerusikan oleh Senior Lieutenant General Phan Giang, Chief of General Staff, Tentera Rakyat Vietnam telah diadakan hari ini melalui atas talian dengan bertemakan ‘Military Cooperation for A Cohesive and Responsive ASEAN’.
Mewakili Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (ABDB) ialah Mejar Jeneral (Udara) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sahat, Pemerintah ABDB. Turut hadir ialah Pemerintah Angkatan Bersama ABDB selaku Ketua ASEAN Military Operations Meeting (AMOM), dan Pengarah Perisikan selaku Ketua ASEAN Military Intelligence Meeting (AMIM).
Selaras dengan tema tahun ini, dua dokumen telah dipersetujui. pertama, rancangan kerja dua tahun aktiviti ketenteraan ASEAN 2020-2022 dan kedua, Kenyataan Bersama ACDFM-17. Kedua dokumen ini mencerminkan komitmen, sokongan dan penyertaan tentera Negara ASEAN dalam melaksanakan inisiatif ACDFM, sekaligus mempertingkatkan peranan tentera negara ASEAN melalui aktiviti-aktiviti praktikal dan kukuh.
Mesyuarat diakhiri dengan upacara penyerahan jawatan pengerusi ACDFM kepada ABDB di mana Negara Brunei Darussalam akan mempengerusikan ASEAN bagi tahun 2021. Pemerintah ABDB turut menyampaikan ucapan pengambilan alih Pengerusi, diikuti dengan tayangan video Negara Brunei Darussalam.
