MUARA CAMP, Thursday 30 June 2016 – The women military personnel of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) today held a thanksgiving ceremony to celebrate the anniversary of the RBAF Women’s Company at the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) Surau.
Present as the Guest of Honour was Lieutenant Colonel Hajah Asnah binti Haji Matamit, Staff Officer Finance, Ministry of Defence.
The religious ceremony began with a mass Sunat Hajat prayer led by Ustazah Pg Hjh Saadiah binti Pg Haji Mahmud, Head of Religious Teachers, and then followed by the recitation of the Surah Yassin, Tahlil and thanksgiving prayer led by Lieutenant Fahzilleana Emey binti Haji Ahmad Alis, RBAF Religious department.
A special lecture entitled “Women who can smell the fragrance of Paradise” was presented by Ustazah Dr Lilly Suzana binti Haji Shamsu, Director of International and Public Relations Centre, UNISSA.
The religious ceremony was organized to foster respectful relationship and nurture spirituality among women officers and personnel in carrying out their tasks and responsibilities with the blessings from Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala.
The Women Military Company was established on 29 June 1981 with a strength of 5 members of the British women military and a civilian clerk, whilst the first intake comprise of 28 locals (6 officers and 22 recruits).
Also present during the ceremony were the female officers and enlisted personnel of the RBAF.
