BOLKIAH GARRISON, Tuesday 1 Oct 2013 – A delegation from Thailand comprising of Information Officers and Print Media from the Public Relation Department of Thailand made an educational visit to the Ministry of Defence yesterday. 

The delegation who was accompanied by officers from the Information Department, Prime Minister’s Office visited MINDEF to learn and gain an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of MINDEF’s Public Relations Unit (PRU).

Leading the Thai delegation was the Head of Bilateral Relations cum Senior Information Officer in the Public Relations Department of Thailand, Madam Praphaisri Ketsawa followed by Mrs Nitiyaporn Hiranniramol, Senior Information Officer for PR Tehcnical and Development Office; Ms Nalintip Kachasumrit, Information Officer for Media and Information Management Division Foreign Office; Mr Phatompong Kaewbandit, Media Officer and Mr Supot Kamwiset, Audio Visual officer for the Institute of Public Relations, PRD.

The delegation was welcomed at the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Museum by Normasitirena Hj Suhaini, Senior Public Relations Officer, Ministry of Defence.  At the start of the visit itinerary, the delegation was briefed by Siti Zahira binti Haji Awg Abu Bakar, Public Relations Officer on Public Relations Unit’s roles, responsibilities and its organizational structure. A question and answer session was also held at the end of the briefing. During the visit, the delegation also had the opportunity to tour the galleries in the RBAF Museum led by the Curator of museum, Major Pg Haji Salehan bin Pg Haji Omar.

The delegation’s visit to the country is part of an exchange visit program under a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of His Majesty and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and the Kingdom of Thailand in the field of Information and Broadcasting. The delegation is scheduled to depart from the Sultanate today after a 5-day visit.
