BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Thursday 8 January 2015 – The Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah received a courtesy call this morning by the Chief of Navy Republic of Singapore Navy, Rear Admiral Lai Chung Han.
The courtesy call was made at the Ministry of Defence in Bolkiah Garrison. Rear Admiral Lai Chung Han is currently in Brunei Darussalam on an introductory visit from 7 to 8 January 2015.
Following the courtesy call, Rear Admiral Lai Chung Han visited the RBAF Museum and had a closer look of the historical records and sources of all types of military equipment and all forms of activities, identifications and historic events in the establishment of RBAF as reference and knowledge of present and future generations.
From the Ministry of Defence, Rear Admiral Lai Chung Han visited the Royal Brunei Navy Headquarters at the Muara Naval Base and made a goodwill call on Commander of Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit. Upon arrival at the RBN headquarters, Rear Admiral Lai Chung Han was presented with the general salute and inspected the guard of honour mounted by RBN personnel.
After the call, he was taken for a ship tour onboard KDB DARULAMAN. Later in the afternoon Rear Admiral Lai Chung Han also had the opportunity to visit the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Defence Academy at the Sungai Akar Camp.
The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) and Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) frequently interact through various activities such as exercises, courses, meetings, seminars, conferences and exchanges of visits. The commitments of both navies in enhancing the cooperation at multiple levels within the organisation have strengthened the professional relations and camaraderie between personnel of the two navies. Hence, the visit by Rear Admiral Lai Chung Han gives special value to the esteemed defence relationship between Brunei Darussalam and Republic of Singapore.
