BOLKIAH GARRISON, Friday, 25 October 2019 – Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd. Yussof, Second Minister of Defence, received an introductory call from His Excellency Christopher B. Montero, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Philippines to Brunei Darussalam this morning.
During the call, the Second Minister of Defence congratulated His Excellency on his appointment. Both sides reaffirmed the warm and close bilateral friendship between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of the Philippines including in the field of defence which has continuously strengthened across a wide range of activities and interactions. These include meetings such as the Joint Defence Working Committee (JDWC), exchange of visits, exercises, courses, and trainings, as well as interactions under the ambit of the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) and ADMM-Plus.
His Excellency also expressed appreciation for Brunei Darussalam’s continued commitment to the International Monitoring Team (IMT) and the Independent Decommissioning Body (IDB) towards achieving long-lasting peace in Mindanao.
His Excellency presented his Letter of Credence to His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam on 18 September 2019.

BOLKIAH GARISON, Jumaat, 25 Oktober 2019 – Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Mejar Jeneral (Bersara) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd. Yussof, Menteri Pertahanan Kedua menerima kunjungan pengenalan daripada Tuan Yang Terutama Christopher B. Montero, Duta Besar Istimewa dan Mutlak Republik Filipina ke Negara Brunei Darussalam pada pagi ini.
Semasa kunjungan tersebut, Menteri Pertahanan Kedua mengucapkan tahniah di atas pelantikan Tuan Yang Terutama. Kedua belah pihak merakamkan rasa puas hati dengan hubungan yang baik dan rapat di antara Negara Brunei Darussalam dan Republik Filipina termasuk dalam bidang pertahanan yang terus berkembang melalui pelbagai aktiviti dan interaksi. Ini termasuk mesyuarat-mesyuarat, khususnya Joint Defence Working Committee, pertukaran lawatan, eksesais, kursus, latihan dan juga interaksi-interaksi di bawah mesyuarat ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) dan ADMM-Plus.
Tuan Yang Terutama juga menyatakan penghargaan ke atas komitmen berterusan Negara Brunei Darussalam kepada Pasukan Pemantau Antarabangsa (IMT) dan Independent Decommissioning Body (IDB) ke arah mencapai keamanan di Mindanao.
Tuan Yang Terutama telah menyembahkan Surat Watikah Pelantikan ke hadapan majlis Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan dan Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam pada 18 September 2019.
