BOLKIAH GARRISON, Wednesday, 28 February 2018 – The Second Minister of Defence, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, today received an introductory call by His Excellency Christian Ramage, the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of France to Brunei Darussalam.
During the call, both sides highlighted the warm and friendly defence relations between Brunei Darussalam and France since the establishment of diplomatic relations on 8 May 1984. The bilateral defence relations has been further enhanced through various avenues characterised by regular exchange of visits, attendance to exhibitions, training and courses as well as, the conduct of the annual Joint Defence Working Committee meetings. Brunei Darussalam and France have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the Agreement between the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of France Concerning Cooperation in Defence Matters and in Defence Equipment in 1999.
The Second Minister of Defence expressed hope that the warm and good defence relations and cooperation that exist between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of France will continue to strengthen in the years ahead.
His Excellency Christian Ramage presented his Letter of Credence to His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam on 18 January 2018 at Istana Nurul Iman.
MENTERI PERTAHANAN KEDUA TERIMA KUNJUNGAN PENGENALAN DARI DUTA BARU PERANCIS KE NEGARA BRUNEI DARUSSALAM
BOLKIAH GARISON, Rabu, 28 Februari 2018 – Menteri Pertahanan Kedua, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Mejar Jeneral (Bersara) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, hari ini menerima kunjungan pengenalan daripada Tuan Yang Terutama Christian Ramage, Duta Besar Istimewa dan Mutlak Republik Perancis yang baru ke Negara Brunei Darussalam.
Semasa kunjungan tersebut, kedua pihak menekankan hubungan dua hala pertahanan yang terus baik dan mesra antara Negara Brunei Darussalam dan Republik Perancis sejak penubuhan hubungan dipliomatik pada 8 Mei 1984. Hubungan aktif ini telah diperkukuhkan lagi dengan pelbagai kaedah yang dicirikan dengan pertukaran lawatan, kehadiran ke pameran-pameran pertahanan di kedua negara, latihan dan kursus-kursus dan mesyuarat tahunan dua hala Jawatankuasa Kerja Pertahanan Bersama. Brunei Darussalam dan Republik Perancis telah menandatangani Memorandum Persefahaman “Agreement between the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of France Concerning Cooperation in Defence Matters and in Defence Equipment” pada tahun 1999.
Yang Berhormat Menteri Pertahanan Kedua berharap hubungan dan kerjasama pertahanan yang mesra antara Negara Brunei Darusalam dan Republik Perancis akan terus dipertingkatkan lagi di masa depan.
Tuan Yang Terutama menyerahkan Surat Watikah Pelantikan ke hadapan majlis Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan dan Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam pada 18 Januari 2018 yang lalu.
