REPUBLIC OF SINGAPORE, Tuesday, 14 August 2018 – Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd. Yussof, Second Minister of Defence is in the Republic of Singapore for an official visit upon an invitation by the Singapore Minister for Defence,
His Excellency Dr. Ng Eng Hen.
The visit began with a courtesy call on the Prime Minister of Republic of Singapore, His Excellency Lee Hsien Loong, on 13 August, during which the two expressed deep satisfaction on the state of bilateral relations especially in the field of defence.
The visit continued the day after with Yang Berhormat Second Minister of Defence calling on
His Excellency Dr. Ng Eng Hen at the Singapore Ministry of Defence. Prior to the courtesy call, Yang Berhormat Second Minister of Defence reviewed and inspected the Guard of Honour mounted by the personnel of the Singapore Armed Forces.
During the call, both sides mutually reaffirmed the excellent and long-standing bilateral defence ties between Brunei Darussalam and Singapore. Both Ministers also exchanged their views on a range of current security issues, highlighting the growing importance of working closely together to address these challenges. They then discussed matters on Singapore’s chairmanship of the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM), where Yang Berhormat Second Minister of Defence expressed Brunei Darussalam’s wholehearted support for the upcoming ADMM and ADMM-Plus meetings in the month of October.
Yang Berhormat Second Minister of Defence also had the opportunity of meeting key political figures and senior officials of the Republic of Singapore on the sidelines of the visit. These include the Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security, His Excellency Teo Chee Hean; the Senior Minister of State for Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Dr. Mohamad Maliki bin Osman; and the Deputy Secretary (Special Projects), Mr. David Koh Tee Hian.
On the last day of his visit Yang Berhormat Pehin will tour the Republic of Singapore Air Force’s Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Command, and a cyber security facility.
MENTERI PERTAHANAN II MEMBUAT LAWATAN RASMI KE REPUBLIK SINGAPURA
REPUBLIK SINGAPURA, Selasa, 14 Ogos 2018 – Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Mejar Jeneral (Bersara) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd. Yussof, Menteri Pertahanan Kedua, berada di Republik Singapura bagi lawatan rasmi atas undangan Menteri Pertahanan Singapura, Tuan Yang Terutama Dr. Ng. Eng Hen.
Lawatan dimulakan dengan kunjungan hormat kepada Perdana Menteri Republik Singapura, Tuan Yang Terutama Lee Hsien Loong pada 13 Ogos di mana kedua-dua pihak merakamkan rasa puas hati yang mendalam mengenai hubungan dan kerjasama di antara kedua-dua negara terutamanya dalam bidang pertahanan.
Program lawatan diteruskan keesokan harinya dengan Yang Berhormat Menteri Pertahanan Kedua mengadakan kunjungan muhibah kepada Tuan Yang Terutama Dr. Ng Eng Hen di Kementerian Pertahanan Republik Singapura. Sebelum kunjungan tersebut, Yang Berhormat Menteri Pertahanan Kedua telah menerima tabik hormat dan seterusnya memeriksa Kawalan Kehormatan yang terdiri daripada anggota Angkatan Bersenjata Republik Singapura.
Semasa kunjungan muhibah itu, kedua-dua pihak bersependapat bahawa hubungan pertahanan dua hala adalah di tahap yang sangat mesra dan telah sekian lama terjalin di antara kedua negara. Kedua-dua Menteri juga bertukar-tukar pandangan mengenai pelbagai isu keselamatan semasa dan menekankan kepentingan untuk berkerjasama rapat dalam menangani cabaran-cabaran ini. Kedua-dua Menteri kemudian membincangkan perkara berkaitan dengan peranan Republik Singapura sebagai Pengerusi Mesyuarat Menteri-Menteri Pertahanan ASEAN (ADMM), di mana Yang Berhormat Menteri Pertahanan Kedua merakamkan sokongan penuh Negara Brunei Darussalam bagi mesyuarat ADMM dan ADMM-Plus yang akan datang pada bulan Oktober.
Yang Berhormat Menteri Pertahanan Kedua juga berpeluang bertemu dengan tokoh-tokoh politik utama dan pegawai kanan Republik Singapura, yang diantaranya ialah Timbalan Perdana Menteri dan Menteri Penyelaras Keselamatan Negara, Tuan Yang Terutama Teo Chee Hean; Menteri Negara Kanan Kementerian Pertahanan dan Kementerian Hal Ehwal Luar Negeri, Republik Singapura, Tuan Yang Terutama Dr. Mohamad Maliki bin Osman dan Timbalan Setiausaha (Projek Khas), Tuan David Koh Tee Hian.
Di hari terakhir lawatan beliau, Yang Berhormat Menteri Pertahanan Kedua akan melawat Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) Command Tentera Udara Republik Singapura, serta kemudahan fasiliti keselamatan siber.
