MUARA, Tuesday, 30 June 2015 – As an effort to further enhance the bilateral relationship between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Korea (ROK), Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) welcomed CHUNGMUGONG YI SUN SHIN at the Muara Commercial Port. The arrival of the vessel was greeted by the Officers of the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) which was led by Commander Azlan bin Ahmad, Commanding Officer of Maintenance, RBN.
The 3-day visit in Brunei Darussalam will be from the 30th June until 2nd July 2015. The 150m ship is commanded by Captain Yoo, Jae-Man with a total number of 302 personnels onboard.
The purpose of this visit is to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two Navies which have long been established and to exercise the interoperability between the two navies through Passage Exercise that is scheduled to take place next Thursday.
Captain Yoo, Jae-Man also made a Courtesy Call to Commander RBN, First Admiral Pengiran Norazmi bin Pengiran Haji Muhammad. Also present during the call was the Chief of Staff, RBN. The Commander RBN also express his deepest appreciation towards the ROK Navy for the indication of sending one ship for the upcoming ADMM-Plus Maritime Security and Counter Terrorism Field Training Exercise (ADMM-Plus MS+Ct FTX) that will be held in May 2016.
Tomorrow, The Republic of Korea Navy ship will open its doors to the public at the Muara Commercial Port from 1000H to 1400H. The open ship will allow the Bruneians and Military Personnel as well as Koreas living in Brunei to have a first-hand experience in boarding the 150 meter ChungMugong Yi Sun Shin class destroyer in the Republic of Korea Navy.
During the visit the crew will get the opportunity to explore several attractions sites within the country, such as the Royal Regalia Museum, the Art and Handicraft Centre in Bandar Seri Begawan and other attraction sites as well as experiencing the local culture and cuisine.
