BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Tuesday 14 June 2016 – The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) yesterday marked its 51st anniversary by organising series of religious events in respect to the holy month of Ramadhan.
In the morning, officers and personnel of the RBN attended a Tahlil ceremony for the late parents of His Majesty the Sultan Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien and Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Bendahara Pengiran Anak Abdul Rahman at the Royal Mausoleum, Jalan Tutong.
The tahlil ceremony commenced with the recitation of Surah Yassin and Tahlil by Captain Narulismandy bin Hj Samaih, JAMAAT Operations Officer of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces. The tahlil was also held to reminisce the historic contribution by the late Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien for the formation of RBN on 14th June 1965 which was then known as Boat Section, Royal Brunei Malay Regiment (AMDB).
Following the tahlil, a Khatam Al-Quran and Doa Kesyukuran Ceremony and subsequently a congregational Fardu Zuhur prayer was held at RBN Surau headed by RBN’s Imam, Mohammad Khairol Azmi bin Haji Salleh.
Present at both ceremonies were the Commander of RBN, First Admiral Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi bin Pengiran Haji Muhammad, senior officers, officers, and enlisted personnel of RBN.
The religious ceremonies are few of the RBN’s religious activities conducted separately every year during its anniversary. However, taking the opportunity of the blessed month of Ramadhan, both ceremonies were held together to enliven this special month in bolstering relations among the officers and personnel of the RBN and to seek blessings and rewards from Allah Subhannahu Wa Ta’ala.
