BOLKIAH GARRISON, Tuesday 29 Oct 2013 – The Royal Brunei Navy is hosting the 2nd ASEAN Navy Young Officers Interaction 2013 (2nd ANYOI 2013). The annual interaction is in its 2nd year which will run from 27 October to 1 November 2013.

It comprises of 18 young officers coming from nine ASEAN countries. The nine participating countries from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam each sent two participants from their respective Navies.

The opening ceremony was held at the Bolkiah Garrison Officers’ Mess, present as the guest of Honour was the Deputy Commander of the RBN, Colonel (L) Pg Norazmi bin Pg Mohammad to officiate the 2nd ANYOI 2013. Also in attendance were Defence attaches as well as officers of the RBN.

On the same day, a seminar presentation took place covering the theme ‘Friendship at Sea for Regional Maritime Peace and Security – Nurturing Future Leaders.’ This gave an opportunity for the respective participants to share their views pertaining to the theme. To oversee the seminar was the guest of honour Deputy Fleet Commander of RBN Lt Col (L) Zil Husam bin Haji Abd Rahman. Also in attendance was the Chairman of the 2nd ANYOI 2013, Lt Col (L) Pg Mohammad Bin Haji Mohd Damit.

This interaction aims to promote cross-cultural understanding, strengthen friendship and enhance the spirit of solidarity amongst ASEAN navies. Particularly by creating and fostering friendship and understanding between ASEAN Navy young officers. Other than the seminar this five day programme also includes a welcoming reception, visit to RBN, cultural visit to RBAF Museum, Royal Regalia Museum, Sungai Matan Village, water sports interaction and a farewell dinner.
