PHNOM PENH, CAMBODIA, Wednesday 27 February 2013 – Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Halim bin Haji Mohd Hanifah and his wife, Datin Hajah Umiyati Binti Haji Mohd Noor, arrived yesterday evening at Phnom Penh, the Kingdom of Cambodia.
They were greeted by Rear Admiral Tea Sokha, Deputy Commander Navy of The Royal Cambodian Navy and other senior officers.
The Commander of The Royal Brunei Navy was in the country from the 26th of February until the 28th of February 2013. This is the first visit made by the Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy to Cambodia. First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Halim made calls to Vice Admiral Tea Vinh, Commander of the Royal Cambodian Navy.
As part of his visit, the Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy and his also made official visits to several places in Cambodia namely Toul sleng Genocidal Museum, Soriya Market, The Royal Palace, the National Museum and Centre Market. These places are believed to be the center of culture for the Cambodians and where huge historical significance took place which plays a huge part in the Cambodians life.
The aim of the visit is to strengthen regional ties between both navies and to discuss matters of maritime concerns which will further boost the naval and political ties that exist between both countries.
