
REPUBLIC OF SINGAPORE, Thursday, 16 May 2019 – The Commander of Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), First Admiral Haji Othman bin Haji Suhaili @ Suhaily was in the Republic of Singapore attending the 12th International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (IMDEX) Asia from 14 to 16 May 2019 at the Changi Exhibition Centre.
Present as guest of honour, Singapore Minister for Defence, Dr. Ng Eng Hen, during his opening remarks at the 12th IMDEX Asia, stressed the importance of consensus for common rules for safe and secure seas and the peace and prosperity of all nations, which was in line with the main theme of the Exhibition.
In attendance at the opening ceremony were 26 Defence and Navy Chiefs, Vice Navy Chiefs, and Directors-General of Coast Guards, as well as participants from more than 40 nations. More than 230 exhibitors from around the world participated in this year’s exhibition, while 25 warships from 15 countries, including KDB DARUTTAQWA took part in this year’s IMDEX Asia Warships Display. The Commander of RBN also had the opportunity to hold bilateral meetings with the Chiefs of Navy from New Zealand, Australia and representatives from France and the United Kingdom.
Later that afternoon, Singapore Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohamad Maliki bin Osman officiated the 10th anniversary of the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN)’s Information Fusion Centre (IFC) in a ceremony that was attended by Navy Chiefs, Vice Navy Chiefs, Director-Generals of Coast Guards and representatives from more than 40 nations. The event saw to the launch of the new IFC Real-time Information-sharing System (IRIS), a web-based system that enhances information-sharing for tighter collaboration between maritime agencies.
The 12th IMDEX was followed by the 6th International Maritime Security Conference (IMSC) at Changi Exhibition Centre on 15 May. The IMSC is a high-profile conference that brings together Chiefs of Navy, Director-Generals of Coast Guard, government officials, academia, think tanks and key industry players around the world to discus threats to maritime safety and security. The Commander of RBN was invited to speak in a panel comprising of the Chiefs of Navy from Australia, Republic of Germany and Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force where they discussed the topic of ‘Maintaining Peace in Our Maritime Commons’.
That evening, a reception was held onboard RSS PERSISTENCE, Changi Naval Base to conclude the 12th IMDEX Asia 2019 in which Singapore Senior Minister of State for Defence, Mr. Heng Chee How was the guest of honour.


PEMERINTAH TLDB HADIRI IMDEX ASIA KE-12 DAN IMSC KE-6 DI SINGAPURA

International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (IMDEX)
Asia ke-12 yang berlangsung dari 14 hingga 16 Mei 2019 di Changi Exhibition Centre.
Hadir sebagai tetamu kehormat, Menteri Pertahanan Singapura Dr. Ng Eng Hen merasmikan
IMDEX Asia ke-12 dengan ucapan alu-aluan yang menekankan kepentingan persetujuan bersama mengenai peraturan keselamatan laut serta keamanan dan kemakmuran semua negara, ini sejajar dengan tema bagi IMDEX tahun 2019.
Turut hadir di majlis tersebut adalah 26 orang Pemerintah-Pemerintah Angkatan Bersenjata, Pemerintah-Pemerintah Tentera Laut, Timbalan-Timbalan Pemerintah Laut, Ketua Pengarah Pengawal Pantai, dan juga peserta daripada 40 lebih negara. Seramai 230 peserta dari seluruh dunia telah mengambil bahagian dalam pameran tahun ini. Sementara itu, 25 buah kapal perang daripada 15 negara, termasuklah KDB DARUTTAQWA juga turut serta dalam IMDEX Asia Warships Display. Pemerintah TLDB juga berpeluang untuk mengadakan mesyuarat dua hala dengan Pemerintah-Pemerintah Tentera Laut dari New Zealand, Australia, dan wakil-wakil daripada Perancis dan United Kingdom.
Pada petangnya pula, Menteri Negara Kanan di Kementerian Pertahanan dan Kementerian Ehwal Luar, Dr. Mohamad Maliki bin Osman telah merasmikan acara ulang tahun
Information Fusion Centre (IFC) ke-10 dalam satu majlis yang dihadiri oleh Pemerintah-Pemerintah Tentera Laut, Timbalan-Timbalan Pemerintah Laut, Ketua Pengarah Pengawal Pantai dan wakil-wakil daripada 40 negara. Majlis tersebut telah melancarkan sistem
IFC Real-time Information-Sharing System (IRIS) yang baharu, iaitu sistem berasaskan web yang meningkatkan perkongsian maklumat untuk kerjasama yang lebih teguh antara agensi maritim.
IMDEX ke-12 diteruskan lagi dengan
International Maritime Security Conference (IMSC) ke-6 di
Changi Exhibition Centre pada 15 Mei 2019. IMSC ini merupakan satu persidangan berprofil tinggi yang menyatukan Pemerintah Tentera Laut, Ketua Pengarah Pengawal Pantai, Pegawai Kerajaan, para akademik, peneraju industri utama dari seluruh negara untuk membincangkan ancaman terhadap keselamatan dan sekuriti maritim. Pemerintah TLDB juga telah dijemput sebagai salah seorang panel bersama panel-panel yang terdiri daripada Pemerintah-Pemerintah Tentera Laut dari Australia, Jerman dan Jepun yang bertajuk ‘Maintaining Peace in Our Maritime Commons.’
Pada sebelah malam, majlis resepsi diadakan di atas kapal RSS PERSISTENCE, Pangkalan Tentera Laut Changi sebagai tirai penutup IMDEX 2019, yang mana tetamu kehormat pada majlis itu adalah Menteri Negara Kanan di Kementerian Pertahanan Singapura, Tuan Heng Chee How.
