PARIS LE BOURGET, FRANCE, Thursday 30 October 2014 – The 24th International Naval Defence and Maritime Exhibition (EURONAVAL) was held in Paris Le Bourget, France from 27 to 30 October 2014. Organised under the joint patronage of the French Ministry of Defence and Secretariat of State for the Sea, Euronaval is one of the most important events on the naval and maritime industry calendar.
Euronaval has traditionally covered missions ranging from naval sovereignty to state actions at sea and maritime safety & security, including the enforcement of public order at sea, marine, maritime & fisheries policing and maritime & coastal surveillance. Representing Royal Brunei Navy to EURONAVAL 2014 was The Commander of Royal Brunei Navy, First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit and delegation.
The 24th Euronaval Naval Defence Exhibition was officially launched by Mr Jean-Yves Le Drian, the French Minister for Defence, before proceeding on an extensive tour of the stands. This year’s event set new records with 96 official delegations and over 30,000 visitors from 110 countries in a context marked by considerable market activity in both naval defence and maritime security.
During the exhibition, the Commander had made a separate Courtesy Call to Admiral Bernard Rogel, Chief of Staff of the French Navy. Discussing on bilateral relations and exchanging of views on the current development and to enhance naval cooperation from both navies. Later in the evening, all the attending Chief of Navies was invited to a cocktail reception hosted by Admiral Bernard Rogel, Chief of Staff of the French Navy at the Hotel de la Marine, Paris.
During the four day exhibition, Delegates, which include Chief of Navies, Chief of Staff, strategists and industrials present at the exhibition were given the privilege to attend a debate organised by the French Navy and the CIGAN (French Industry Association for Shipbuilders and Outfitters) with the subject “The Evolution of Conflicts at sea types by 2025” which was held in the site of the exhibition.
Additionally, attending Chief of Navies together with the Commander of Royal Brunei Navy and other delegation were also given an opportunity to observe a truly impressive display of Mistral Class Amphibious Assault Ship, French Frigate FORBIN (anti air destroyer) and witnessing the demonstration of Landing Catamaran Landing Craft in Toulon Naval Base, France.
The Commander of Royal Brunei Navy had also attended a welcoming dinner which was hosted by the Organiser of the 24th Euronaval Naval Defence Exhibition (GICAN) at the Seine River, Paris.
Overall, the exhibition aims to stage the concept of new technologies in enhancing the military capabilities and internal transformation initiatives to seize these opportunities with the design of new products and support services.
