VIETNAM, Sunday 23 November 2014 – The Royal Brunei Land Forces (RBLF) shooting team had a successful performance in their first three competitions – the Machine Gun Match 1, Overall Championship Machine Gun (Match 1 and 2) and Machine Gun Single Team Championship (Top Gun) – at the 24th Asean Armies Rifle Meet (24th AARM), currently held in Vietnam.
PTE Muhd Erwan bin Muhd Hilmi and PTE Mohd Samsul bin Sulong, from the GPMG team of RBLF shooting team successfully sealed the first runner-up and bagged a silver medal in the Machine Gun Single Team Championship (Top Gun). The first place was won by Indonesia while second runner-up went to the Philippines.
The Rifle RBLF shooting team, on the other hand, received a silver and a bronze medal in both Rifle Match 4 (Section Match) and Rifle Team Overall Championship (Overall Match 1, 2, 3 and 4). The team was made up of CPL Mas Azi Masuzi bin Haji Mohd Ali Safar, LCPL Mohd Saiful Rizal bin Haji Abd Razak, LCPL Mohd Noor bin Haji Nordin, LCPL Azian bin Tanam, LCPL Khairul Izwandy bin Abdullah Tangkai, LCPL Samatria bin Tako, PTE Mohd Mushab bin Awg Bujang, PTE Shafwan Hilmi bin Mohaimin, PTE Md Amizan bin Mohd Shukri and PTE Mustapa bin Haji Jaya.
CPL Khairulizam bin Bagol, CPL Usmarizal bin Haji Usin, PTE Eddy Kesuma bin Awg Omar and PTE Junaidi bin Kassim of the Pistol RBLF Shooting team won a bronze medal in the Pistol Men Match 4 (Section Match).
The accomplishment marks the RBLF shooting team’s most impressive start in the most elite rifle meet championship in Asean. The 24th AARM competition was officially opened on November 19. The closing ceremony will be held on November 28.
