RIMBA, Monday, 29 April 2013 – Royal Brunei Air Force today marked the beginning of the five days Safety Workshop which was delivered by the Republic of Singapore Air Force Inspectorate.

The offer from the Republic of Singapore Air Force in conducting this Safety Workshop is a result from the bilateral meeting between the two air forces during the 10th ASEAN Chief of Defence Forces’ Informal Meeting, in March this year. 

The five days Safety Workshop will cover six areas on Flight Safety:

a) Aviation Safety Management System & Safety Theories;
b) Risk Management;
c) Crew Resource Management;
d) Human Factors;
e) Roles & Responsibilities of a Unit Safety Officer; and

f) Case Studies.

The opening address during the officiation ceremony of the RBAirF Safety Worskhop was given by Col (U) Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sahat, the Deputy Commander of the Royal Brunei Air Force. In his opening remark, he emphasized on the application of lessons learnt during the workshop in order to promote the safety standard for the organization. He also highlighted that it is important to understand how risky flying business is and how to mitigate the risk they are facing.

The opening ceremony was attended by the participants of the workshop consisting of 36 participants, comprising of those holding key appointments in the Flight Safety Committees, the Officer Commanding of the Flying Squadron, pilots, Engineers, Staff Officers from the Royal Brunei Air Force Headquarters and personnel from the Counselling Unit. Also Present during the opening ceremony of the workshop was Colonel Chan Wei Gan, the Defence Adviser of the Republic of Singapore to Brunei Darussalam.

The Republic of Singapore Air Force Inspectorate team are consisted of LTC Alex Cornelius, Major Tay Lai Huat, ME5 LokeMun Kong, Miss Delicia Ser Hui Ping and Maj Robert Tan. On the other hand, The Head of Inspectorate, Republic of Singapore Air Force, will be in Brunei on the 2 May to chair a dialogue session with the key Commanding personnel and Managers from the Royal Brunei Air Forces. He will also be in the country to take part inthe Certificate presentation to all participants during the closing ceremony of the workshop on the 3 May 2013.
