RIMBA AIR BASE, Thursday 20 November 2014 – The 2014 RBAF Women Personnel Road Race was successfully held at the Royal Brunei Air Force Base today.
The Guest of Honour was Lieutenant Colonel Norsuriati binti Haji Sharbini, SO1 Military Legal Unit, Ministry of Defence.
Those who participated in the event included officers from the Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF), Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF), Training Institute RBAF (TI RBAF) and Ministry of Defence.
Ministry of Defence became the overall champion of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Women Personnel Road Race Competition 2014. The second place went to Training Institute RBAF while third place goes to Royal Brunei Land Force.
Under the Officers categories, the 5km Open Veteran was won by 377 Major Nooridah binti Haji Ibrahim from Ministry of Defence with 38mins 32secs whereas for the 5km Open Category (35-39 years old), 714 Major Dr Haslina binti Junaidi from the Royal Brunei Air Force won the first place with 31mins and 45 seconds. Meanwhile, 854 Captain (U) Dk Nurazriana binti Pg Hassanan came in first place with 1 hour and 9 mins for the 12km Open Category.
For the SNCOs and Other Ranks category, the 5km Open Veteran was won by 21025 Sgt Rohana binti Haji Adris from the Training Institute RBAF with 31mins 45 secs whereas for the 5km Open Category (35-39 years old), first place went to 21033 Sgt Saridah binti Mohammad from the Training Institute RBAF with 30mins 28 secs. Moreover, 21606 Pvt Nurul Syema Binti Roslin from the Ministry of Defence with 1 hour and 17mins won the 12km Open Category.
The event serves to foster fitness and encourage healthy competitiveness between RBAF women personnel. It also aims to strenghten relations and improve teamwork amongst others.
