LEBANON, Wednesday, 6 September 2017 – The Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) contingent in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) peace mission extended in-kind donation of five sets of interactive smartboards from the Ministry of Defence of Brunei Darussalam to the Yatar Public School under the Civilian Military Cooperation (CIMIC) programme.

Apart from the smartboards, 104 schoolbags were also donated to the school to equip the pupils whom will start school soon.

The students of the Yatar Public School are expected to benefit from the donation. The Mayor of Yatar Municipality, Khalil Kourani expressed his appreciation and gratitude towards the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam for its humanitarian contributions that extended beyond its mission mandate. The CIMIC programme offers opportunities for the RBAF contingent to contribute to, and to work alongside with the local community through various socio-cultural activities.

The donation project commenced with the recitation of verses from the Al-Quran and then a ‘doa selamat’, followed by a speech by the RBAF Contingent Commander, Major Mohd Azhan bin Haji Ahmad whom highlighted the continued commitments of the RBAF towards UNIFIL, which are in accordance to the mandate by the United Nations, while bridging and enhancing the people-to-people relations between the two countries.

Also present to support the project was Colonel Reizal Arif bin Tan Sri Ismail, Commander of MALBATT 850-4.

KONTINJEN UNIFIL ABDB MALBATT 850-4 SUMBANGKAN ‘SMARTBOARDS’ KEPADA SEKOLAH AWAM DI LUBNAN

LUBNAN, Rabu 6 September 2017 – Kontinjen Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (ABDB) yang bertugas membuat misi pengaman United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) telah menyampaikan sumbangan dari Kementerian Pertahanan Negara Brunei Darussalam berupa ‘interactive smartboard’ sebanyak lima buah kepada Sekolah Awam Yatar di bawah program ‘Civilian Military Cooperation’ (CIMIC).

Selain dari sumbangan smartboard, pemberian sebanyak 104 beg sekolah juga disampaikan untuk murid-murid sekolah yang akan memulakan persekolahan.

Pelajar Sekolah Awam Yatar diharap akan mendapat manfaat daripada sumbangan tersebut. Khalil Kourani, Mayor Yatar Municipality menyampaikan penghargaan kepada Kerajaan Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan dan Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam atas sumbangan kemanusiaan yang melebihi mandat misi.  Dalam program CIMIC ini, kontinjen ABDB berpeluang untuk menyumbang dan juga bekerjasama dengan masyarakat setempat melalui pelbagai aktiviti sosio-budaya.

Upacara projek sumbangan tersebut dimulakan dengan bacaan ayat suci Al-Quran , kemudiannya doa selamat dan diikuti dengan ucapan balas dari Ketua Kontinjen ABDB, Mejar Mohd Azhan bin Haji Ahmad yang menekankan komitmen berterusan ABDB terhadap misi UNIFIL, mengikut mandat oleh Pertubuhan Bangsa-Bangsa Bersatu (PBB), sambil merapatkan dan meningkatkan hubungan antara rakyat dengan kedua-dua negara.

Turut hadir pada majlis tersebut adalah Kolonel Reizal Arif bin Tan Sri Ismail, Komander MALBATT 850-4 yang turut menyokong projek tersebut.
