
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Wednesday 29 October 2014 –The Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Sepak Takraw Tournament 2014 concluded
yesterday at the Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF) Sports Complex in Rimba.
The tournament was hosted by the Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF and a total
of six teams from the Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF), Royal Brunei Navy (RBN),
Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF), Training Institute RBAF, Special Forces
Regiment (SFR) and from the Ministry of Defence (MinDef) took part in the
tournament which started on Oct 17.
Three categories were competed – Team category, Inter-Regu category and Special
(Chain of Command) category.
The tournament objectives were to select highly potential players within
RBAF to represent the RBAF Sports Council and Ministry of Defence in the
National Sepak Takraw Championship and the upcoming Brunei Darussalam National
Games, as well as to foster the spirit of sportsmanship among takraw players
and strengthen friendship.
In the Team category, Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF) team emerged champion
after defeating Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) 2-0 in the final match. Royal Brunei
Air Force (RBAirF) team finished in third place.
Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) took the champion’s title of the Special category
after defeating RBLF 2-1 in the final match. RBAirF took third place.
RBLF ‘B’ were crowned champion of the Inter-Regu category after they managed
to edge fellow teammates RBLF ‘A’ 2-1 in the final match to be named overall
champion, while third place went to RBN.
Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Hj Wardi bin Hj Abd Latif,
Commander of the Royal Brunei Air Force presented the prizes to the winners of
the tournament.
