BERAKAS GARRISON, Friday 21 November 2014 - In addressing the medical emergency response challenges of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) today, a process of modernisation of military equipment represents one of the key elements to enhancing its responsiveness and efficiency.
In that regard, the Medical Services of the Royal Brunei Land Forces (RBLF), received eight new military ambulances from local transport suppliers in a handing-over ceremony held at the First Battalion Parade Square in Berakas Garrison this afternoon.
Present to receive the ambulances was the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah from the local suppliers.
QAF Motor Group Sdn Bhd represented by Roger Fletcher, General Manager supplied four Battle Field Ambulances, whereas Grand Motors Sdn Bhd represented by Pengiran Haji Abdul Qahar bin Pengiran Sanggamara Diraja Major General (Rtd) Pengiran Haji Ibnu Ba’asith, Executive Director supplied four Domestic Ambulances.
The procurement of the new Domestic Ambulances were aimed to replace the current aging fleet of domestic ambulances, while the Battlefield Ambulances will be an add-on to the current military defence capability in support of military forces in operations beyond urban terrain.
Modern medical equipment with competent skillful personnel play the critical, life-saving role in the work of the military as it directly supports defence, security and movements into and out of the not so accessible parts of the country. This will thus assist own forces towards better and quicker response to difficult medical emergency situations.
Also in attendance in the ceremony were Services Commanders, Commander of Joint Forces Headquarters, Commandants, Military Directors, Senior Officers, RBAF Chief Medical Officer and staffs of the Medical Services Reception (MRS), Royal Brunei Land Forces.
