SINGAPORE, Tuesday, 30 January 2018 – The 6th International Institute of Strategic Studies (IISS) Fullerton Forum took place from 28 – 30 January 2018 at the Fullerton Hotel, Singapore.
The Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), First Admiral Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi bin Pengiran Hj Muhammad attended the forum. Joining the Commander of RBN to the forum was the Chief of Staff of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Colonel Haji Abdul Hadi bin Haji Saim.
The forum which is also known as the ‘IISS Shangri-La Dialogue Sherpa Meeting’ provides opportunity for key regional security issues to be discussed amongst defence and military officials and non-governmental experts with around 75 delegates from over 20 countries participating in this event.
The forum opened up with the delivery of the keynote address by the Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Korea, Mr. Song Young-moo. The forum also included a special dinner address by the Minister of Education (Higher Education and Skills) and Second Minister for Defence of Singapore, Mr. Ong Ye Kung.
During the forum, the Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy also conducted bilateral meetings with Major General Derek W. Joyce, the Director General International Security Policy, Department of National Defence of Canada and also with Major General Giles Hill, the Assistant Chief of the Defence Staff, Defence Engagement of the United Kingdom.
The Fullerton Forum was organised by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in support and in preparation for the 17th IISS Shangri-La Dialogue process which will take place on 1 – 3 June 2018.
ABDB HADIRI FORUM FULLERTON KE-6
SINGAPURA, Selasa, 30 Januari 2018 – Forum Fullerton International Institute of Strategic Studies (IISS) kali ke-enam berlangsung dari 28 – 30 Januari 2018 di Fullerton Hotel, Singapura. Pemerintah Tentera Laut Diraja Brunei (TLDB), Laksamana Pertama Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan bin Pengiran Haji Muhammad telah menghadiri forum tersebut. Turut hadir ialah Ketua Staf Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (ABDB), Kolonel Haji Abdul Hadi bin Haji Saim.
Forum yang juga dikenali sebagai ‘IISS Shangri-La Dialogue Sherpa Meeting’ telah membangkitkan isu-isu keselamatan serantau yang utama untuk dibincangkan di kalangan delegasi-delegasi daripada 75 perwakilan dari lebih 20 negara yang menyertai forum tersebut.
Forum ini telah dirasmikan dengan ucapan daripada Menteri Pertahanan Negara Republik Korea, Song Young-moo. Menteri Pendidikan (Pendidikan Tinggi dan Kemahiran) dan Menteri Kedua Pertahanan dari Republik Singapura, Ong Ye Kung juga menyampaikan ucapan semasa makan malam,
Semasa forum itu juga, Pemerintah TLDB juga mengadakan pertemuan dua hala dengan Director General International Security Policy, Department of National Defence of Canada dan juga Major General Giles Hill, the Assistant Chief of The Defence Staff, Defence Engagement of the United Kingdom.
Forum Fullerton yang telah dianjurkan oleh International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) bagi persediaan untuk IISS Shangri-La Dialogue ke-17 yang akan diadakan pada 1 – 3 Jun 2018.
