TEMBURONG, Wednesday 13 April 2015 – Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) and delegation made a visit to the Singapore Armed Forces troops at Temburong.
Part of the delegation included Brigadier General Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sahat, Commander Joint Force Headquarters, as well as Colonel Awang Khairul Hamed bin Awang Haji Lampoh, Chief of Staff of the Royal Brunei Land Forces. The visit was hosted by Colonel Lee Yong Heng, the Defence Adviser of the Republic of Singapore.
The aim of the visit was to introduce RBAF Commander to observe the soldiers of the 1st Battalion, Singapore Guards who are on their training visit in Temburong.
Upon arrival, RBAF Commander and delegation were greeted by the Defence Adviser and his staff, before visiting the Jungle Village at Kampong Meriam. At the Jungle Village, Commander RBAF received a brief by Captain Yogendran, OC A Company, 1st Battalion, Singapore Guards before observing the training and mingling with the troops. Commander RBAF and delegation then proceeded to Sungai Batu Apoi, Selapon to witness the Crossing Water Obstacle conducted by the C Company, 1st Battalion, Singapore Guards Battalion.
At the Crossing Water Obstacle, Commander RBAF was introduced to Captain Tong Wei Lynn, OC of the C Company, 1st Battalion, Singapore Guards, who is the first woman rifle company OC in the Guards formation.
During the visit, discussions mainly focused on the lessons learnt by the SAF from their training in Temburong, along with exchange of experiences of jungle training between the RBAF and the SAF.
