BERAKAS, Wednesday 19 November 2014 – The Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah made a working visit to the Operation Planning Exercise (OPE) of Exercise Semangat Waja VI today at the National Modelling & Simulation Centre (NMSC) in Anggerek Desa, Berakas. The OPE will be held from 17 November 2014 until 21 November 2014.
The exercise is participated by 30 officers, which include 2 officers from the Royal Brunei Air Force, 5 officers from Singapore Army and 2 officers from 1st Battalion Royal Gurkha Rifles (1RGR), Tuker Line Garrison, Seria.
The aim of the exercise is to educate and expose the officers on collective planning at an operational level, Stabilization Operation, Counter Insurgency and Humanitarian Aids and Disaster Relief.
The visit began with an overview briefing by the Chief of Staff RBLF, Colonel Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, followed by a visit to Blue and Red forces. The Commander of the RBAF was also briefed on the conduct of the exercise in the White Cell and the NMSC’s system that facilitate the operational planning. Also present was the Commander of Royal Brunei Land Forces, Yang Mulia Brigadier General Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Yussof bin Haji Abd Rahman.
The OPE is one of the preparations for the Exercise Semangat Waja VI which will be held on 13 – 26 April 2015. The exercise will involve troops from Singapore Army under the pretext of Exercise Maju Bersama and Exercise Rintis Bersama 2015, which also marks the 20th anniversary for the bilateral exercise between the RBLF and the Singapore Army. In addition, one Company group from 1 RGR will also participate in the Exercise Semangat Waja VI.
