BOLKIAH GARRISON, Monday, 12 October 2015 – Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, Commander Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) received a courtesy call from General Sir Peter Wall, Colonel Commandant Brigade of Gurkhas this morning at the Ministry of Defence in Bolkiah Garrison.
General Sir Peter Wall, representing Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is currently in the Sultanate to celebrate the Gurkha 200 Commemoration Parade that will be grace by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Minister of Defence and Supreme Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien.
This year marks the 200 years of service of the Brigade of Gurkha to the British Crown.
During the call, the discussion focused on the personal friendship and professional defence relationship between Brunei Darussalam and the Royal Gurkha Rifles (RGR), Seria. The regular interactions between the RBAF and the RGR have bolstered the defence cooperation and mutual understanding, and the presence of RGR in Brunei Darussalam has received a warm welcome by the people of Brunei. Future initiatives to further strengthen the professional relationship were also discussed.
