BANGLADESH, Tuesday 19 Nov 2013 – The Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, went to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh for a three day official visit from 17 – 19 November 2013.
Accompanying the Commander RBAF were Lt Col (L) Hussein bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohamad – Director of Logistics, Lt Col Saiful Akhmar bin Haji Mohd Shariff – Defence Academy RBAF and Major (L) Mohd Faizal Ezam bin Haji Abas – Royal Brunei Navy. The visit welcomed more opportunities for the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and the Bangladesh Armed Forces to enhance the military to military relationship to support each other’s mutual interests.
During the visit, the Commander RBAF had discussions and interactions with the key leaders in the Bangladesh Armed Forces, namely the Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Naval Staff, Chief of Air Staff and the Principal Staff Officer Armed Forces Division, which centred mainly on training and education cooperation. The Commander RBAF’s delegation also had the opportunity to visit three prestigious military training institutions which were the National Defence College, Defence Services Command and Staff College and the Bangladesh Military Academy, which again opened up further possibilities of cooperation and exchanges in the training and education between the two armed forces.
As part of the visit programme, the Commander RBAF and his delegation also visited the Khulna Shipyard, which is a commercial enterprise managed and operated by the Bangladesh Navy. A brief background and introduction of the Khulna Shipyard was presented and upon completion, the delegation had a ship tour onboard one of the 50 metre long patrol craft that was constructed and built by the Khulna Shipyard.
