BOLKIAH GARRISON, Thursday, 30 December 2021 - Major General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sahat, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) hosted a farewell event for Colonel Yeo Joon Jua Desmond, the outgoing Defence Adviser of the Republic of Singapore to Brunei Darussalam today.
Also present was Colonel Peter Chee, the incoming Defence Adviser of the Republic of Singapore, Lieutenant Colonel Koh Tai Wee, Assistant Defence Adviser of the Republic of Singapore, Chief of Staff RBAF and the Director of Intelligence.
During the event, the RBAF Commander expressed his gratitude to Singapore for its support in providing COVID-19 vaccines as well as medical supplies to Brunei Darussalam. Both sides agreed that through exchanges of visits, exercises, courses and trainings, Brunei Darussalam and Singapore have made significant progress in strengthening the military-to-military relationship.
The RBAF Commander also acknowledged Colonel Desmond’s commitment throughout his tenure in Brunei Darussalam and wished Colonel Desmond all the best in his future endeavours. He further congratulated Colonel Peter Chee for his appointment as the new Defence Adviser and hoped the bilateral relations between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Singapore will continue to flourish especially in the field of military and defence.
Colonel Yeo Joon Jua Desmond was appointed as the Defence Adviser of the Republic of Singapore to Brunei Darussalam since 2017 and will be taken over by Colonel Peter Chee.
PEMERINTAH ABDB ADAKAN MAJLIS PERPISAHAN BAGI PENASIHAT PERTAHANAN REPUBLIK SINGAPURA KE NEGARA BRUNEI DARUSSALAM
Bolkiah Garison, Khamis, 30 Disember 2021 – Mejar Jeneral (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sahat, Pemerintah Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (ABDB) telah menghoskan majlis perpisahan bagi Kolonel Yeo Joon Jua Desmond, Penasihat Pertahanan Republik Singapura ke Negara Brunei Darussalam pada hari ini.
Turut hadir ialah Kolonel Peter Chee, Penasihat Pertahanan Republik Singapura yang baharu, Lieutenant Kolonel Koh Tai Wee, Penolong Penasihat Pertahanan Republik Singapura, Ketua Staf ABDB dan Pengarah Perisikan.
Semasa acara tersebut, Pemerintah ABDB menzahirkan rasa penghargaannya kepada Singapura atas sokongannya dalam menyumbangkan vaksin COVID-19 serta bekalan perubatan ke Negara Brunei Darussalam. Kedua-dua pihak mengakui Negara Brunei Darussalam dan Singapura telah mencapai kemajuan yang ketara dalam memperkukuhkan hubungan dua-hala melalui pertukaran lawatan, eksesais, kursus dan latihan.
Pemerintah ABDB juga turut menghargai komitmen Kolonel Desmond di sepanjang tempoh perkhidmatannya di Negara Brunei Darussalam dan mendoakan kejayaan Kolonel Desmond pada masa hadapan. Beliau turut mengucapkan tahniah di atas perlantikan Kolonel Peter Chee selaku Penasihat Pertahanan Republik Singapura yang baharu dan berharap hubungan dua-hala di antara Negara Brunei Darussalam dan Republik Singapura akan terus berkembang khususnya dalam bidang ketenteraan dan pertahanan.
Kolonel Yeo Joon Jua Desmond telah dilantik sebagai Penasihat Pertahanan Republik Singapura ke Negara Brunei Darussalam sejak tahun 2017 dan akan diambil alih oleh Kolonel Peter Chee.
