BOLKIAH GARRISON, Wednesday, 11 May 2022 – Major General Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) attended the 2022
Indo-Pacific Chiefs of Defence (CHOD) virtual meeting.
The
meeting themed “Security Implications of Climate Change” was hosted virtually by Admiral J.C. Aquilino,
Commander,
United States Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM)
and attended by twenty-two Chiefs of Defence and representatives from the Indo-Pacific region with a focus on the security implications of climate change.
During the meeting, the Chief of Defence discussed on the increase in large-scale climate change in the Indo-Pacific region that will challenge military forces in dealing and responding to security crises where as part of the meeting included a presentation
on “Our Ocean’s Conference” by Mr Joseph Martin, Director for Center for Excellence, who is also an expert in the subject matter. Other than that, the Chiefs of Defence also engaged in open discussions on key regional priorities.
The virtual meeting marked the last meeting prior to the in-person 2022 CHOD Conference, which will take place in July 2022 and co-hosted by the Commander of the United States Indo-Pacific Command and the Chief of Defence Force of Australia in Sydney.

BOLKIAH GARISON, Rabu, 11 Mei 2022- Mejar Jeneral Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Pemerintah Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (ABDB) telah menghadiri Mesyuarat Indo-Pasifik
Chiefs of Defence (CHOD) 2022 secara dalam talian.
Mesyuarat yang bertemakan “Security Implications of Climate Change” tersebut telah dihoskan secara dalam talian oleh Admiral J.C. Aquilino, Commander, United States Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM), dan dihadiri oleh dua puluh dua Ketua Turus Pertahanan dan wakil-wakil dari rantau Indo-Pasifik.
Semasa mesyuarat tersebut, Ketua-ketua Turus Pertahanan telah membincangkan mengenai peningkatan dalam perubahan iklim yang berskala besar di rantau Indo-Pasifik, yang akan mencabar pasukan tentera dalam menangani dan bertindak balas terhadap krisis keselamatan, di mana mesyuarat tersebut juga termasuk penyampaian kertas kerja bagi
“Our Ocean’s Conference” dari Mr Joseph Martin,
Director for Center for Excellence yang merupakan pakar dalam topik tersebut. Selain itu, Ketua-ketua Turus Pertahanan juga berbincang mengenai cabaran-cabaran yang dihadapi bersama secara terbuka.
Mesyuarat secara dalam talian ini adalah sesi terakhir sebelum persidangan CHOD 2022 secara bersemuka yang akan diadakan di Sydney, Australia pada bulan Julai 2022 dan dipengerusikan bersama oleh Ketua Turus Angkatan Bersenjata Australia dan Komander
