RIMBA, Wednesday 21 October 2015 – The Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Athletics and Tug-of-War Championships 2015 came to a close today after a three-day competition held at the Sports Complex, Royal Brunei Air Force, Rimba. The competition was held as an annual event where the Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF), Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF), Royal Brunei Armed Forces Training Institute (TI RBAF) and Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) compete in the three-day event for the championship trophy commencing on the 19 October 2015.
The 1st day of the Championships was officiated by Commander Rozalan Bin Sablee, RBN, chairperson of the RBAF Athletics and Tug-of-War Championships 2015 and followed with a march past by all the participants.
A total of 120 participants competed in various track and field events. The closing ceremony was officiated by First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit, Deputy Commander of RBAF.
Also present were the Service Commanders, Commandants and Directors. The organiser also invited teams from the Royal Brunei Police Force, Prisons Department, Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports, and the Sports School to compete in the special 4 x 100m relay event.
The afternoon’s proceedings also witnessed the final of the Tug-of-War Championship followed by march past from all the participant and lead by RBN band. RBLF was announced the overall winner for the RBAF Athletics and Tug-of-War Championships 2015 after defeating the RBAirF. The Guest of Honour presented the Championship trophy to the RBLF, who emerged victorious with 9 gold medals, 8 silver medals and 3 bronze medals under their belt, second place was RBAirF followed by MINDEF, TI RBAF and RBN respectively.
