Major Dayang Siti Nur `Afiqah binti Haji Awang Morsidi has served as the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Defence, Brunei Darussalam, since 17 June 2026. She commenced her service with the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) on 1 August 2008 and completed her initial officer training at the Officer Cadet School, RBAF, Sungai Akar. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Brunei Studies, awarded by the Universiti Brunei Darussalam.
Throughout her career, Major Dayang Siti Nur `Afiqah has held a wide range of staffing, training and instructional appointments. These include Commanding Officer of the Evolution Centre, Training Institute; Education Officer; Staff Officer Grade 2 Training; Staff Officer Grade 2 Recruitment; and Staff Officer Grade 2 Personnel and Administration. Major Dayang Siti Nur `Afiqah was also involved in the Inaugural Regional Jungle Warfare Symposium (RJWS) held in Brunei Darussalam, contributing to the successful conduct of the event. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she also served as part of the National Coordination Centre for COVID-19 (N3C19) Secretariat, where she provided administrative support in support of national efforts during the pandemic.
Throughout her career, she has attended range of professional military, leadership, training and administrative courses. These include the Junior Staff Course, Command & Staff Course, 1st Advanced Manpower CSS Officer Course (Module A), Defence Higher Education Trainer, Training Needs Analysis, Safety Management System Audit, Training of Trainers-related programmes, Psychology of Leadership, and other professional development courses. She has also completed a number of courses associated with her career progression.
In recognition of her service, Major Dayang Siti Nur `Afiqah has been awarded several service and commemorative medals, including the Pingat Laila Tugas, Pingat Jasa Emas ABDB, Pingat Jubli Emas, Pingat Jubli Intan and Pingat Indah Kerja Baik (P.I.K.B).
She is married to Abdul Jalal bin Haji Abdullah and is blessed with four children, Khaleel Al-Fattaah, Azka Althaaf, Jaleela Widad and Jaleela Widya. Outside of her professional responsibilities, she has a keen interest in sports and maintains an active lifestyle.

PUBLIC RELATIONS UNIT
HISTORY
Initially, the Public Relations Section consisted of a small team of civil servants that included a Senior Public Relations Officer as head of the section, a Public Relations Officer, and a clerk. The primary function of the Section was to coordinate incoming and outgoing VIP visits.
Since then, the Public Relations Section underwent significant reforms. In the year 2002, the Public Relations Section was transferred under the Secretariat Office of the Permanent Secretary II (Finance and Development), Ministry of Defence, Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dato Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Kani.
The section was later renamed as Public Relations Unit and directly reports to the Permanent Secretary II, Ministry of Defence.
The incorporation of more military personnel into the unit marked a significant shift in the establishment structure and signaled the start of its expanding role. In 2006, more military posts were installed to assist function in administration, graphic design and multimedia.

1. Manages and facilitates defence overall publicity strategy and activities
2. Manages collaborations with media partners
3. Coordinates updates and review of defence website with relevant stakeholders
4. Acts as focal point for public inquiries and complaints
5. Supports Brunei Government overall branding aspirations and activities
