MANILA, Tuesday, 26 November 2023 – The 35th Executive Board Meeting and 22nd General Assembly of the Veterans Confederation of ASEAN Countries (VECONAC) held at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza, Manila, Republic of the Philippines from 26 to 30 November 2023. The conference was attended by members of the Executive Committee of the Veterans Association Royal Brunei Armed Forces (VARBAF) led by the President VARBAF, Yang Mulia Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Ramli bin Abd Hadis. Present were the Secretary General, Major (Retired) Rosnani binti Ismail, Treasurer General, Major (Retired) Pengiran Hajah Masnah binti Pengiran Haji Bahar, Administrator of VARBAF Secretariat, Warrant Officer 1 (Retired) Haji Rozyman Aidit bin Haji Ibrahim and Head of Branch Brunei and Muara District, Staff Sergeant Haji Umar bin Serudin, Head of Branch Tutong, Warrant Officer 1 (Retired) Haji Aminudin bin Haji Abd Karim and Head of Belait Branch, Staff Sergeant Jerry bin Junaidi. Also present were VARBAF secretariat staffs with two officers from the Military Retirees Affairs Division, Directorate of Personnel, Ministry of Defence.
The opening ceremony of the VECONAC Conference was graced by the Defence Secretary of the Republic of the Philippines, His Excellency Gilberto C. Teodoro Jr. In his keynote address, he emphasized on the importance of unity and called on the veteran leaders of the 10 Southeast Asian countries to continue to work together to preserve the well-being and peace of the region to make it as the most prosperous and most peaceful region in the world. He added that it can only be achieved through the collective action of our peoples – respecting the ASEAN centrality, respecting individual cultures, respecting each one’s individual destinies for a collective good.
VECONAC is an important platform in building collaborative efforts to empower economic progress in order to preserve the welfare of veterans. The conference ended with a handover ceremony of the duties and responsibilities of the VECONAC Presidency from the Republic of the Philippines to the Republic of Singapore, who will host the VECONAC Conference in 2024.

MANILA, Selasa, 26 November 2023 – Mesyuarat Badan Eksekutif ke-35 dan Persidangan Agung ke-22 Gabungan Pertubuhan Veteran Negara-Negara ASEAN
(VECONAC) telah berlangsung di Sofitel Philippine Plaza, Manila, Republik Filipina pada 26 hingga 30 November 2023 yang lalu. Persidangan tersebut telah dihadiri oleh Ahli-Ahli Jawatankuasa Kerja Tertinggi Persatuan Veteran Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (PERWIRA) yang diketuai oleh Presiden PERWIRA, Yang Mulia Leftenan Kolonel (Bersara) Ramli bin Abd Hadis. Turut serta ialah Setiausaha Agong, Mejar (Bersara) Rosnani binti Ismail, Bendahari Agung, Mejar (Bersara) Pengiran Hajah Masnah binti Pengiran Haji Bahar, Pentadbir Urusetia Pegawai Waran 1 (Bersara) Haji Rozyman Aidit bin Ibrahim dan Ketua-Ketua Cawangan Daerah Brunei Muara Staf Sarjan Haji Umar bin Serudin, Tutong, Pegawai Waran 1 (Bersara) Haji Aminudin bin Haji Abd Karim, dan Belait Staf Sarjan Jerry bin Junaidi. Juga turut menyertai ialah beberapa kakitangan Urusetia PERWIRA bersama dua orang pegawai dari Bahagian Hal Ehwal Pesara Tentera,Jabatanarah Keanggotaan, Kementerian Pertahanan.
Majlis pembukaan Persidangan VECONAC telah dirasmikan oleh Setiausaha Pertahanan Republik Filipina, Tuan Yang Terutama Gilberto C.Teodoro, Jr. Dalam ucaptama, beliau menekankan peri mustahaknya kesatuan dan menyeru pemimpin-pemimpin veteran dari 10 negara Asia Tenggara ini untuk terus bekerjasama memelihara kesejahteraan dan keamanan serantau untuk menjadikannya sebagai rantau yang paling makmur dan aman di dunia. Beliau menambah bahawa ianya hanya dapat dicapai dengan adanya tindakan kolektif sesama kita dengan menghormati
‘ASEAN centrality’, menghormati budaya masing-masing, menghormati ketentuan masing-masing demi untuk kebaikan yang kolektif.
VECONAC adalah sebagai platform penting didalam membina usaha-usaha Bersama kearah memperkasa kemajuan ekonomi demi memelihara kebajikan para veteran. Persidangan telah ditutup dengan Majlis Serah Terima Tugas dan Tanggungjawab jawatan Presiden VECONAC diantara Republik Filipina dan Republik Singapura yang akan menjadi tuan rumah bagi Persidangan VECONAC pada tahun 2024.
