MALAYSIA, Monday 18 April 2016 – The Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence, Datin Paduka Hajah Suriyah binti Haji Umar attended the 15th Defence Services Asia Exhibition and Conference 2016 (DSA) at the Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur. Also present was Captain (R) Haji Mohd Amirul Shahnoel bin Haji Mohd Noeh, RBN, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Technology).
The DSA was officiated by the Malaysian Defence Minister, Dato’ Seri Hishammuddin bin Tun Hussein last Sunday night. This four-day exhibition and conference attracted more than 1,200 companies from 29 countries this year.
The Permanent Secretary also attended the Putrajaya Forum at the Sunway Putra Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. The forum was conducted concurrently with the biennially-held DSA exhibition and was launched by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak. With the theme of “Regional Cooperation in Addressing Security Challenges”, this forum highlighted on the growing threats of non-traditional security challenges across the region and beyond.
On the sidelines of the forum, the Permanent Secretary made a call on Dato’ Sri Abdul Rahim Bin Mohamad Radzi, Secretary General, Ministry of Defence of Malaysia, where both sides expressed satisfaction at the cooperation between the two defence establishments. The defence relations between Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia continue to be strengthened especially with the close consultation between the two countries as well as exchanges in trainings and joint military exercises and participation of both countries in international operations.
