SUNGAI AKAR CAMP, Friday 8 May 2015 –
The Officiating Ceremony of the 14th Intake of the Officer Cadet Course was held at the Dining Hall of the Officer Cadet School.
The ceremony was officiated by Dato Paduka Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat, Deputy Minister of Defence.
In attendance at the ceremony were the Commander of RBAF, Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, Permanent Secretary, Deputy Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Deputy Permanent Secretaries, Services Commanders and Joint Force Commander, Directors in the Ministry of Defence and Senior Officers of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces as well as the families of the Officer Cadets.
Prior to the Officiating Ceremony, an Appointment Ceremony for the 14th Intake of the Officer Cadet School, Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces took place at the Sungai Akar Officers’ Mess.
The appointment of the 34 new Officer Cadets were presented by the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah.
The Officer Cadets went through a stringent selection process in April 2015, where their potentials to join the Royal Brunei Armed Forces were assessed including physical fitness, leadership and analytical thinking ability.
Of the 34 Officer Cadets, 16 will join the Royal Brunei Land Force, 9 will join the Royal Brunei Navy and 9 will join the Royal Brunei Air Force. They are about to embark on a 12 month long Commissioning Course at the Officer Cadet School, where their leadership abilities, character and intellect will be developed and honed before being commissioned as Lieutenants and joining their respective services for more specialised training.
The Officer Cadets will have to prove that they are able to meet the high standards demanded of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Officer Training, with the spectrum of subject matter varying from physical fitness and basic military skills to analysis of strategic studies and modern military doctrine.
Those who are able to make it through the 12 months training will not only become Commissioned Officers of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, but will also be awarded a BTEC Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management, and be qualified as range conducting officers. The Sovereign’s Parade in May next year will mark the end of the course.
PERASMIAN KURSUS PEGAWAI KADET PENGAMBILAN KE 14
SUNGAI AKAR, Jumaat, 8 Mei 2015 – Sekolah Pegawai Kadet (OCS) yang mula ditubuhkan pada tahun 2008 mengadakan Majlis Perasmian Kursus Latihan Pegawai Kadet Pengambilan Ke-14 S OCS Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (ABDB) di Dewan Makan OCS, Unit Simpanan Gurkha, Kem Sungai Akar, di sini.
Hadir merasmikan ialah Timbalan Menteri Pertahanan, Dato Paduka Awang Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat.
Majlis Pelantikan untuk seramai 34 orang yang telah dilantik menjadi Pegawai Kadet bagi pengambilan ke-14 OCS ABDB turut berlangsung di Mes Pegawai Unit Simpanan Gurkha, Kem Sungai Akar.
Daripada jumlah tersebut, 16 pegawai Tentera Darat Diraja Brunei (TDDB) dan sembilan pegawai Tentera Laut Diraja Brunei (TLDB). Mereka akan memulakan Kursus Pentauliahan selama 12 bulan.
Mereka yang terpilih merupakan calon yang berjaya melalui proses pemilihan dari Badan Pentauliahan ABDB yang dijalankan pada bulan April 2015 lalu yang mana mereka ini telah dinilai melalui pelbagai bidang keupayaan termasuklah kecergasan fizikal, kepimpinan dan keupayaan pemikiran analitikal.
Hadir menyempurnakan pemakaian pangkat baru bagi pegawai-pegawai kadet ialah Pemerintah ABDB, Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Mejar Jeneral Dato Paduka Seri Awang Mohd. Tawih bin Abdullah.
Turut hadir ialah Setiausaha Tetap, Timbalan Pemerintahan ABDB, Timbalan Setiausaha Tetap, Pemerintah-Pemerintah Angkatan Tentera Tentera, Komandan Institut Latihan ABDB, Komandan Akademi Pertahanan ABDB, pengarah-pengarah tentera, pegawai-pegawai kanan dan keluarga pegawai-pegawai kadet yang baru dilantik.
OCS mempunyai pendekatan yang holistik dengan piawaian dan amalan yang mana baru-baru ini menjalankan Bengkel Pengajar yang pertama untuk membantu dalam mengembangkan profesional yang berterusan kepada semua kakitangan tetap yang berkhidmat di sekolah berkenaan.
