BOLKIAH GARRISON, Monday 10 December 2012 – The Right Honourable Hugo Swire MP, Minister  of  State, Foreign  and Commonwealth Office of  the United Kingdom, called on  Dato Paduka Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat, Deputy Minister of Defence, Brunei Darussalam, at the Ministry of Defence.

Present during the call were Col (Rtd) Pg Dato Paduka Haji Azmansham bin Pg Haji Mohamad, Permanent Secretary (Defence Policy and Development) and other senior defence officials. 

The Right Honourable Hugo Swire MP and Dato Paduka Haji Mustappa discussed ways to strengthen further our bilateral relations, particularly in the area of defence.  They also exchanged views on the developments in the region. The Right Honourable Hugo Swire MP was also briefed on the  preparation of Brunei Darussalam’s Chairmanship of the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) and the ADMM Plus meeting (ie. ASEAN Defence Ministers’ meeting with Australia, China, India, Japan, Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Russia and the United States).

The Right Hpnourable Hugo Swire was in Brunei Darussalam for a two-day visit.
