BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Saturday 1 October 2016 – The Ministry of Defence and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) held congregation at all the suraus in the military garrisons and camps, ushering in the start of Islamic Year 1438 Hijrah.
At the Ministry of Defence Surau in Bolkiah Garrison, the ceremony began with the end of the Islamic Year 1437 Hijrah prayer, followed by a mass Maghrib prayer and the reading of the new year’s prayer. The congregation also heard a religious talk focused on “Harta Berkat, Negara Selamat”, delivered by Dr Shohibudin Laming, Deputy Director of the Centre for Promotion of Knowledge and Language, Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University.
The ceremony was attended by the Chief of Staff of the Joint Force Headquarters, RBAF, Captain Haji Mohamad Yusof bin Masron, RBN, as the guest of honour together with military and civilian officers and personnel of the Ministry of Defence and RBAF.
Hijrah New Year is celebrated by Muslims on the first day of Muharram, the first Islamic month as the day symbolises two important events in the Islamic calendar. The day marks the historic journey of Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam from Mekah to Madinah on the first of Muharram in 622AD.
KEMENTERIAN PERTAHANAN DAN ABDB SAMBUT AWAL TAHUN BARU 1438 HIJRAH
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Sabtu 1 Oktober 2016 – Kementerian Pertahanan dan Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (ABDB) telah mengadakan Majlis Sambutan ketibaan Awal Tahun 1438 Hijrah dengan mengadakan sembahyang berjemaah di seluruh surau dan balai ibadah garison dan perkhemahan.
Sementara di Surau Kementerian Pertahanan, Bolkiah Garison, majlis tersebut dimulakan dengan bacaan Doa Akhir Tahun 1437 Hijrah dan diteruskan dengan menunaikan Sembahyang Fardu Maghrib berjemaah dan seterusnya dengan membaca Doa Awal Tahun 1438 Hijrah. Majlis diserikan juga dengan ceramah agama bertajuk “Harta Berkat, Negara Selamat”, yang disampaikan oleh Dr Shohibudin Laming, Timbalan Pengarah Pusat Penataran Ilmu dan Bahasa, Universiti Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA).
Majlis tersebut telah dihadiri oleh Ketua Staf Angkatan Bersama, Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei, Kepten Haji Mohamad Yusof bin Masron, Tentera Laut Diraja Brunei (TLDB) selaku tetamu kehormat termasuk pegawai serta anggota tentera dan awam Kementerian Pertahanan dan Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (ABDB).
Tahun Baru Hijrah disambut oleh umat Islam pada satu Muharram, hari bulan Islam yang pertama yang melambangkan dua peristiwa penting dalam kalendar Islam, yangmana pada tahun ini jatuh pada 1 Oktober tahun masehi. Hari tersebut juga bertepatan dengan peristiwa Hijrahnya Nabi Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam dari Makkah ke Madinah pada tahun 622 Masehi.
