BERAKAS, Saturday 29 November 2014 – Sports contribute to the state glory and excellence and become the goal and aspiration of the nation to raise the achievement of the athletes and contingent at regional and international games.
The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports stressed the matter at the launching of the 2nd Brunei Darussalam National Sports Meet, SKBD 2014, this afternoon.
Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Diraja Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hazair bin Haji Abdullah said the sports festival is a platform for potential athletes to compete at national level before they participate at international level championship.
Three thousand three hundred and 74 athletes will compete in 23 events at the 8-day sports festival. Also present were the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Dato Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof and the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Pg Dato Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pg Haji Bahar.
