MALAYSIA, Tuesday, 31 May 2016 – First Admiral Pg Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi bin Pg Haji Muhammad, the Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) and spouse, Pg Datin Noralam binti Pg Haji Kahar were in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for a four-day introductory visit from 31 May 2016- 03 June 2016.
On the first day of his visit, the Commander of RBN made three separate Courtesy Calls with the Malaysian Deputy Minister of Defense, YB Dato Sri’ Mohd Johari bin Baharum, Malaysian Chief of Army Chief General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr) Haji Zulkifeli bin Mohd Zin and the Malaysian Chief of Navy, Admiral Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Panglima Ahmad Kamarulzaman bin Haji Ahmad Badaruddin. Upon arrival, the Commander of RBN was received by the Malaysian Chief of Navy and inspected the Guard of Honor before proceeding to the Courtesy Call.
The official singing Terms of Reference (TOR) for RBN and Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) Naval Working Group by the Commander of RBN and the Chief of RMN was then taken place shortly after the Courtesy Calls. Later during the evening, the Commander of RBN had the opportunity to celebrate the 55th Anniversary of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) hosted by the Defense Attache of Brunei to Malaysia, Commander Norshahrinizam bin Haji Talib at The Ritz Carlton Hotel.
The Commander of RBN continued his visit to the RMN Naval Base in Lumut, Perak. The entourage was flown by EC725 Aircraft of the Royal Malaysian Airforce. Upon arrival at the Royal Malaysian Airforce Base in Kuala Lumpur, the Commander of RBN was received by the Base Commander of the base, Col Muhd Mudzamir Ong bin Abdullah.
At the RMN Naval Base in Lumut, Perak, the Commander of RBN made a Courtesy Call with the Fleet Commander of the RMN Lumut Naval Base and later had the opportunity to visit two Shipyard Companies, the Boustead Naval Shipyard (BNS) and the Dock Great One Marine (GOM) at which respectively running the latest RMN‘s naval ship project, Littoral Combat Ship, LCS and the Training Ship. Later in the evening, the Commander of RBN and spouse were cordially invited to an official dinner hosted by the Malaysian Chief of Navy. Both Commanders exchanged speeches at which emphasizing the importance of having strong relationships ties between both navies and defense.
The final day of his visit marks a great importance and memorial day to the Commander of RBN as he was inducted as the first international member of Malaysian Armed Forces Defense College (MAFDC) Hall of Fame and also the 8th member since the establishment of Hall of Fame since 2014.
Additionally, throughout his visit, the Commander of RBN had the opportunity to exchange valuable views and discussion during the Courtesy Call. Part of the discussions were honoring the firm and robust relationship both navies continue to have which strengthens even more with info sharing of knowledge and experience through joint training and both bilateral and multilateral exercises. The exchange views of future development planning was also part of the discussions at which can further revolve both navies readily rapport to another level of professionalism, proficiency and Excellency.
