BOLKIAH GARRISON, Monday 23 November 2015 – The Deputy Minister of Defence, First Admiral (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit received an introductory call from Colonel Murat Sekizkardes, the Republic of Turkey’s accredited Defence Attaché to Brunei Darussalam, who is based in Kuala Lumpur, at the Bolkiah Garrison, Ministry of Defence.
During the courtesy call, both sides discussed on regional issues, current affairs and their commitment to strengthening the existing bilateral defence relation through exchange of visits and promoting dialogue between defence and military officials.
This year marks the 31st Anniversary of diplomatic relations between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Turkey since its inception on 27 June 1984.
This diplomatic relations reached a significant milestone in 2012 with the opening of the Brunei Darussalam’s and Turkish Embassies in the respective capitals – a decision made in 2012 during His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s official visit to the Republic of Turkey.
