BOLKIAH GARRISON, Wednesday 23 March 2016 – First Admiral (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd. Tamit, Deputy Minister of Defence, Brunei Darussalam, received an introductory call from Her Excellency Nagma Mohamed Mallick, High Commissioner of Republic of India to Brunei Darussalam, this morning at Bolkiah Garrison, Bandar Seri Begawan.
During the call, the Deputy Minister of Defence and the High Commissioner expressed appreciation at the active bilateral relations shared by the two countries, which was further enhanced by the recent signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Defence Cooperation in February 2016.
Both sides looked forward to further strengthening cooperation including through exchange of visits, joint training and courses, as well as other peacetime cooperation.
The Deputy Minister also hoped that the defence forces from both sides can continue to work together at the multilateral level. He recalled the ADMM-Plus Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief and Military Medicine Exercise held in Brunei Darussalam in 2013, and expressed appreciation for the strong support by India which contributed to its success. He also looked forward to India’s continued support for the upcoming ADMM-Plus Maritime Security and Counter Terrorism Exercise in May 2016, which will begin in Brunei Darussalam.
