RIMBA, Wednesday 23 Oct 2013 – The launch of the Royal Brunei Air Force Flight Safety Champions’ Scheme took place in the recently opened Air Movements Centre at RimbaAir Force Base.
As part of the new Aviation Safety Management System being developed for the Royal Brunei Air Force, the Flight Safety Champions’ Scheme aims to promote Flight Safety awareness and provides a medium where outstanding individual contributions to Flight Safety can be recognised.
During the inaugural event, 3 members of the Royal Brunei Air Force were awarded Flight Safety Champion status named 629 Captain (U) Mohd Walee bin Haji Roslie from No 1 Squadron Operations Wing for exceptional airmanship when faced with an in-flight emergency, 21316 Corporal (U) Farziah Hatikah bte Hj Aziz from Engineering No 4 Squadron for professional diligence in discovering a hidden hairline crack in a critical component, and 16012 Lance Corporal (U) Pg Mohd Tahiruddin bin Pg Osman from Engineering No 1 Squadron for developing a guide that delivers improvements in air worthiness management.
The Ceremony was presided over by the Commander of the Royal Brunei Air Force, Brigedier General (U) Haji Wardi bin Haji Abdul Latip, who presented framed certificates and cloth badges to the 3 Champions whilst Lieutenant Colonel (U) James Brudenell, RBAirF’s Head of Aviation Safety, conducted the proceedings and read out the citations.
