BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Friday 9 October 2015 – This year marks the 200 years of service of the Brigade of Gurkha to the British Crown. In commemorating the service, a parade will be held on Monday morning at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar Ali Saifuddien.
A final rehearsal was held today and present to witness the rehearsal were the Deputy Minister of Defence, Dato Paduka Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat, Commander of RBAF, Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, High Commissioner of British to Brunei Darussalam, His Excellency David Campbell, members of Defence Executive Committee and RBAF senior officers.
The parade will be led by the commanding officer of the First Battalion Royal Gurkha Rifles (1RGR), Lieutenant Colonel Jodi Davies, MBE who is also the Commanding Officer of 1RGR in Seria.
A total of 820 military personnel from the Royal Gurkha Rifles, Third Batallion from Royal Brunei Land Forces,
First Battalion Royal Gurkha Rifles Band and Royal Brunei Armed Force Band will be involved in the parade.
The bicentennial event provides an opportunity in celebrating the extraordinary martial qualities of the Gurkha soldiers, their temperament, loyalty and selfless service, and supreme courage in battle.
