MALAYSIA, Wednesday 25 February 2015 – The Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit, made a three day official Farewell Visit to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 24 to 26 February 2014.
During the visit, the Commander of the RBN made a courtesy call to Admiral Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Abdul Aziz bin Haji Jaafar, Chief of the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) and His Excellency Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakri, the Deputy Minister of Defence, Malaysia. Upon arrival at the Ministry of Defence in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the Commander of RBN was greeted by Chief of RMN and other senior officers from the Royal Malaysian Navy and inspected the Guard of Honour which comprised of personnel of the Royal Malaysian Land Force.
During the calls, both parties highlighted the close defence ties as well as the strong relationship between Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam which include various defence cooperation, interactions and exercises such as Exercise Hornbill, participation in the Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA), regional cooperation such as the ASEAN Defence Minister Meeting Plus Expert Working Group (ADMM + EWG) on Maritime Security, the ASEAN Navy Chiefs Meeting (ANCM), and Western Pacific Naval Symposium (WPNS).
The Commander of the RBN and delegation also attended a dinner hosted by the Chief of RMN at the Hotel Royale Chulan, Kuala Lumpur and had the opportunity to further interact with other senior officers of the RMN and their spouses. During the dinner, the Commander of the RBN also conveyed his utmost appreciation to the Chief of RMN for organising the farewell visit and also for the support and cooperation from RMN throughout his tenure as the Commander of the RBN.
