SINGAPORE, Wednesday 23 October 2019 – The Closing Ceremony of Ex AIRGUARD 25/19 between the Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF) and the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) was held at the SAFTI Live Firing Area (LFA) Training Shed 1, Republic of Singapore. This year’s exercise, which started on 11th October 2019, marks the 25th anniversary of this bilateral exercise between the two countries. 




The closing ceremony was presided by the Commander of RBAirF, Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sahat, and Chief of Air Force, RSAF, Major General Kelvin Khong Boon Leong. Also in attendance was Colonel Lau Boon Ping, Commander Participation Command, RSAF as the witnessing officer.




Commander of RBAirF  was given the honour to present a closing speech after touring the field deployment sites. In his speech, he emphasized that an exercise like Ex AIRGUARD has become a significant platform for the defenders to hone their skills and enhance interoperability. He also stressed the importance of strengthening the bonds between the soldiers who were involved.




The ceremony then saw the handing-over of the Ex AIRGUARD Flag by the Commanding Officer of 18 Divisional Air Defence Artillery Battalion (18 DA Bn) RSAF, Lieutenant Colonel Tan Swee Kiat, to the Commanding Officer of the No.2 Wing RBAirF, Lieutenant Colonel (U) Awang Suhaimi bin Awang Jamali, as a symbol of officially handing over the duty as the host country for next year’s Ex AIRGUARD.




This year’s Ex AIRGUARD consisted of 40 personnel from RBAirF and 55 personnel from RSAF. The RBAirF contingent was led by Major (U) Pengiran Mohd Ajijol Nijam bin Pengiran Omar. Ex AIRGUARD, together with the other bilateral exercises and professional exchanges between the Singapore Armed Forces and Royal Brunei Armed Forces, has reinforced and shall continue to promote closer defence ties between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Singapore.



MAJLIS PENUTUP LATIHAN DUA HALA EX AIRGUARD 25/19




SINGAPURA, Rabu  23 Oktober 2019 – Majlis Penutup Ex AIRGUARD 25/19 diantara Tentera Udara Diraja Brunei (TUDB) bersama Tentera Udara Republik Singapura (TURS) dikendalikan di Padang Tembak SAFTI, Republik Singapura. Eksesais tahun ini, yang bermula pada 11 Oktober 2019, merupakan ulang tahun ke-25 latihan dua hala ini diadakan di antara kedua-dua negara.




Majlis Penutup Ex AIRGUARD 25/19 dihadiri oleh Pemerintah TUDB, Brigedier Jeneral (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sahat bersama Pemerintah TURS, Mejar Jeneral Kelvin Khong Boon Leong. Turut hadir bagi majlis tersebut adalah Kolonel Lau Boon Ping, Pemerintah Participation Command, TURS.




Pemerintah TUDB diberi penghormatan untuk menyampaikan ucapan khas dimana beliau menekankan kepentingan Ex AIRGUARD bagi meningkatkan kemahiran dan pengendalian sistem pertahanan udara. Beliau juga menekankan kepentingan hubungan ditahap individu diantara anggota-anggota yang terlibat.




Majlis diteruskan dengan penyampaian bendera Ex AIRGUARD daripada Pegawai Pemerintah 18 Divisional Air Defence Artillery Battalion (18 DA Bn) TURS, Leftenan Kolonel Tan Swee Kiat, kepada Pegawai Pemerintah Cawangan No 2 TUDB, Leftnenan Kolonel (U) Awang Suhaimi bin Awang Jamali, selaku tuan rumah Ex AIRGUARD 26/20 pada tahun hadapan.




Ex AIRGUARD pada tahun ini terdiri daripada 40 anggota TUDB dan 55 anggota TURS. Kontinjen TUDB diketuai oleh Mejar (U) Pengiran Mohd Ajijol Nijam bin Pengiran Omar. Ex AIRGUARD, di samping latihan-latihan dua hala yang lain diantara ABDB dan Angkatan Tentera Republik Singapura mengukuhkan lagi persahabatan dan hubungan baik di dalam bidang pertahanan diantara Negara Brunei Darussalam dan Republik Singapura.
